Skim-reading through, I'd currently vote either Iparth or Anthras as possible cult people. Both have suspected links to Fanderay (Iparth had a constant to and fro with them which rang somewhat false - though as Iparth himself points out this began before Fanderay's recruitment. Doesn't mean that it wasn't Iparth who subsequently did the recruiting, however. While Anthras had that refusal to vote for Fanderay a while ago).

Quote me refusing. Please.

Factions we know exist:

Independent Nobility. Gait, Cast, Okaros

Germans of Das Eisen Reich either as part of the Austrian Empire or as mercenaries hired by the Empire. Fanderay and Jalan.

Rosetta Treaty. Lock, Fanderay, and PersonZ.

Factions that have been revealed in blurbs but may or may not be part of this particular game:

Twice Crowned King,
the Doge of D'Arsenale,
the Mercatore lords,
or even the Di Vicires Tapper list this family seperately but my SWAG would be that they are part of the Mercatore faction.

You've missed out the Kanton thingummies, who seem to be mentioned in practically every scene.

If we're going with historical reality parallels, they sounds like Swiss mercenaries to me (Kanton = cantons of Switzerland. Swiss pikemen were famous for their military prowess).

I didn't list them as a faction since somewhere Tapper mentioned the ability to hire mercenaries. That gave me the impression that they're not a playable faction; just a resource to be hired. On the other hand NPC mercenaries are hard to bribe so maybe they will be playable.

I also missed the Austrians as a faction. Jalan's death scene makes it clear that the Empire is going to be a playable faction.

I apologise, that was the wrong choice of words. But you know what I mean :) You were around to switch to Fanderay but didn't the night we had a no lynch, and then subsequently got into an argument about not voting for Fanderay (which I still don't really understand your given reasons for).

Seems a pointless vote. They'll be due for a modkill in 2-3 hours anyway I think. If they come back in that time with nothing except a staving off modkill post then sure, I'll be up for lynching them, but in the meantime any other direction strikes me as potentially more useful (in terms of looking at posts after CF).

Beginning a more careful read-through...

These are the people who voted for Gait on day 1: Jalan, Fanderay, Iparth, Hentos, Nimander, Anthras, Emurlahn, Meanas, Okaros (whose vote shouldn't count as the hammer was already reached by Meanas).

Now PS in his scene said that Gait was beset by four neighbours, which I take to mean four other independent nobility. We know Jalan and Fanderay at this point were Germans, so removed them from the list of possible Rosetta people. I remove myself too (though obviously the rest of you can't with certainty), and that leaves 3 INs among Iparth, Hentos, Anthras, Emurlahn, and Meanas (if Okaros was not counted among the attackers as their vote came too late).

That means, if the scene is to be relied upon, two of those five are not independent nobility.

In their brief time with us, Lock raised a fuss about why people were saying there were few roles in this game. Surprise, surprise, Lock themselves appears to have been roled (hence their fascination with this topic).

And here Bendal also chimes in in support of Lock. So if we follow that train of thought...is Bendal roled too?

Factions of 3 and last faction standing? This is going to be a loooooong game you think Nimander?

My fear is that there are recruiters. Just a hunch I got from the way Tapper wrote about Mercenary's being bought off.

I've read what little there is. It seems to sum up to: Fanderay is a party-pooper, some Latin/Italian role-playing (signalling?), Gait was speed lynched, and now Lock is lined up for one also.

@Fanderay: You're voting Lock because you think he's a recruit or a recruiter?

No, the weak ass case I made on Lock was about him appearing to look like he was trying to get people to reveal if they were roled.

Hello...why does Dejim bring up Lock being a recruit or recruiter? No one even mentioned that at this point.

Cast is dead. He was Carlito, Barrone de la Loggia, a proud Noblesse noble

The Di Vicire family would not stand for the death of Iacopo. Their new mercenaries in tow, they set out to find who was behind his murder. Pointed in the right direction by a Kantonian mercenary captain, they fell on the small castle of La Loggia, murdering its baron, Carlito, and taking his wife and children hostage, to be fostered alongside Iacopo's children.

12 alive. It is now day 3.

Just noticed that this scene doesn't align with what we supposedly know. Here, it is the Di Vicire family who have killed Cast. But from what Fanderay said, it was he and Jalan who killed Cast (when Fandy was still with ze Germans). Ah but wait. Of course, this is also the night Fanderay was recruited, correct?

And it does say 'their new mercenaries in tow' which could be referring to Fanderay.

I'm just considering how much, if any, stock to lay by the scenes.

Not too much. I have noticed a tendency in the past for people to try and solve a puzzle through what P-S provides instead of following their instincts and the thread. It is generally unfair to minority factions like cults/ killers.

This game is my introduction of Noblesse and I am very hesitant to drop too many easily identifiable clues. To use that scene as an example; I used Vicire because there was as of yet no confirmation of there being an Eisen Empire in the game, and Iacopo (well, now his brothers and offspring) will be important in future games.
Only someone with this much power could make this many frittatas without breaking any eggs.

Dejim asks if Lock is being accused of being a recruit/recruiter when no one had mentioned anything like that yet. Slip by Dejim because they know something of Lock's role?

Dejim is the 7th vote on Lock. Reasoning could be seen as distancing/ironic, if indeed they are in the same faction and Dejim knows it.

In real life I hate what I'm going to do right now. Only because I had never been teamed up with this one person. Sorry XXXX.

The timing on this post is Tappers fault I might add. I think he was to busy puking to resolve all the night actions.

First off there are recruiters. I was recruited last night. I'm not going to say who I'm with now, but it pains me to do it, I'm going to give the info of where I was. I was teamed up with Jalan. we were German, and we killed Cast last night.

I'm pretty sure Okaros is our leader. His signal was very easy to see. Ze enlightenment.

I'm kinda pissed. We were doing well I thought as a team.

So why are you telling us this? It certainly looks like an attempt to deflect attention from Iparth.

Dejim's first reaction to Fanderay's reveal. Let's look at it from the hypothetical perspective of Dejim having recruited Fanderay. He's pissed. First thing he tries to do is deflect attention away from new recruit Fanderay and onto Iparth.

While it's tempting to check that, it might be a distraction to keep us from lynching one of his roled associates. At least we have a suspicion of where Fanderay stands.

So,

Vote Iparth

That's what I think as well.

Again trying to nudge thought away from Fanderay and onto Iparth.

Vote Fanderay

But is the third vote on Fanderay. Hardly a strong conviction behind the vote, though.

So I'm liking the idea of Dejim as an ally of Lock's. But just to show I'm not all blinkered, here's another possibility in Anthras' reaction to Fanderay.

My new CF.

How, exactly, do you see your death by lynch helping your new team? Talk me through the logic of it, I'm feeling rather slow right now.

VCs are last faction standing remember. How does it help your faction not to have someone of a different faction lynched today?

Same kind of pissed-off tone that Dejim's reaction to Fanderay could be interpreted as.

I don't want to jump on the Fanderay wagon yet but will be around for a few hours more if I need to change. Cult-hunting is appealing but then so would catching the recruiter be...

12 alive, 7 to lynch, 6 for night.

Around 5 hours and 25 minutes left. Maybe.

4 vote Fanderay (Meanas, Hentos Ilm, Dejim Nebrahl, Emurhlan)
4 votes for Iparth Erule (Okaros, Bendal Home, Fanderay, Anthras)

Edit: forgot I changed my vote above...

And votes for Iparth rather than Fanderay.

I think the lynch has to be between Dejim, Anthras, and also as an outside shot possibly Iparth (because the timing of Fanderay's reveal may have been done to stave off the possibility of an Iparth lynch. However, that is also to assume that Fanderay knew his new faction/recruiter, when we don't have any indication that he did know - he certainly couldn't communicate with them).

I'll

Vote Dejim Nebrahl

as it currently seems to have the most evidence for me for a link with Lock, and subsequently Fanderay.

No, but I don't expect you to take my word on it. Call it wide-eyed stupid or naive, but I did not realize this was a fishing attempt until someone pointed that out to me. If I were roled, however, I would not have reacted to this statement and certainly not in this manner, as I would be way more cautious. Moreover, I would not have increased the attention given to this statement of Lock, after someone has pointed out it was a fishing attempt, by jumping on the Lock pressuring train that early and that fiercely.

---

Back to the current voting affairs.

After yesterday, I expected people to go for Jalan, as he confirmed Fanderay's outing of him as a killer. However, with the reason given in one of my previous posts, I did not think it would have been the right thing to do for non-cultists. So I stated that and then put an Iparth against the Jalan vote. While Iparth was and is not my number one cult suspect, I wanted to see how the people I suspect the most, Anthras and Dejim, would react to that and with what reason. However, Jalan was modkilled, negating a possible easy 1.5 (or 2) for cult.

Now that NG made a decent case against one of my prime suspects, I think it's time to switch.
