Anyone following Gamescom today?

The Sony press conference is about to start:

I missed the Microsoft show but it had some interesting revelations according to Reddit.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a (timed?) exclusive for X One.

Screamride looks like a game that would be really interesting with a virtual reality headset and a Kinect monitoring your heartbeat.

And of course some interesting stuff about Halo, Fable, Sunset Overdrive, etc.

EDIT: Not to mention Quantum Break looks amazing. Crazy visuals:



EDIT: 10 million PS4s sold to consumers in 9 months.

EDIT: The Tomorrow Children looks really fucking weird. Like an USSR MMO version of Minecraft on anti-depressants.

EDIT: Oh god Rime looks absolutely fantastic. Similiar to Ni No Kuni and Zelda: Windwaker. I love those games that go a completely different route than the quest for every better graphics and highdefinition tectures.

EDIT: I love how goofy the new cardboard box mechanics are in MGS5. Can't wait to hear what the Social Justice brigade has to say about the pin-up models.

Rime looks great. Hope it's just based around exploration and puzzle solving.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Quantum Break is starting to give me serious Watch Dogs vibes.

That is, new IP which promises great innovation and looks fantastic, turns out be mostly made up of standard cover shooting with a gimmick.

It even comes complete with a guy who might as well be Aiden Pierce again, such is his design and costume.

Wild looked awesome - though never judge a game by its reveal trailer, sigh. And where's Beyond Good and Evil 2, Ancel?!

Wait...people are interested in 1886? I mean sure, the concept is great, but did no one else see the reveal trailer and think that even in that the execution looked kinda average? (And I don't mean the graphics XD)

I haven't even bothered to pay any attention to it since because it looked poorly put together and lacking in substance...

The original one at E3 with the PS4 launch lineup and stuff. The game looks average, even if the setting seems great. :S

Its a cover based third person FPS with quicktime events. I mean if that's your thing, then have fun. I've no interest in it, just as I don't play the Gears stuff.

Have we been watching two completely different marketing campaigns?

The Order, at least at a superficial glance, seems to be extremely high polished. It has an interesting setting, fantastic visuals, good characters, powerful weaponry, varied gameplay, etc.

By average what are you comparing it to? Gears of War 3? Because that's the only game I can think of with the same degree of polish and honestly I think the Order looks more promising.

Most important stuff is that Paradox will announce new DLCs for Crusader Kings II and Europa Universalis IV. Yay!
