It seems there is a chance to invent a gun and become a minor character in the sequel to Willful Child.

It sucks having to wait for fame. The first tale of my exploits isn't due out until November. (pauses to twiddle thumbs). I know! A contest! In the future we're in the habit of inventing new weapons: hand-guns, blasters, beam weapons. Thing is, I've made it a career goal to never use the same weapon twice. So put your meaty brain cells together and invent me some weapons! Add their effect if you like, and give me proper elaborate names (ie, Dual Variance High Antiplasmic Iniquitor, Model 19). If I like 'em I'll use 'em. I'll even name a character after you (whom I will promptly and inventively see killed, snuffed out, extirpated, immolated, expunged, redacted, etc.). Yes, I'm that kind of guy. What kind of guy am I? That kind of guy.

Question is though, is this legit? Is this actually a legitimate competition with a legitimate prize?
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Even if it isn't, it could be a bit of fun.

Not as if we have anything to lose.

Was it ever really a question? I mean, I read the posts on that page and it screams Erikson's humor.
uhm, that should be 'stuff.' My stiff is never nihilistic.

Eh, it's facebook. I'd rather stab my eyeball with a toothpick than enter in to Facebook promotions.

Also, a sequel is already a certainty? I know Erikson has clout now a days but what if the book flops?
