In GoTM, Tool's got a magic deadening aura that spreads some distance. I seem to remember all T'lan Imass were mentioned as having it.

I mean it's a plot point, seeing as Tattersail died by trying to use her warren under its effect.

Is it just a GoTM-ism? All T'lan Imass having on otataral-esque AoE would be pretty handy

Spoilers just in case:

I wish the K'Chain Telephone appeared in the series again...

Tool's the bomb. Also, GotMism.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Thanks, I thought that might be the case.

That must be one of the bigger GotMisms.

Neither of these are GotMisms.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Think of it like a sphere of influence, it allows friendly aspected Magic and works against everything else. Not necessarily otatarol just the bending of rules due to the ritual of tellann.

Despite Tool's magic deadening power rarely being mentioned again in the series, I thought it was an awesome ability. Not sure why Erikson seemed to to ignore it for the most part as the story went on.
