Longmire

I started watching this show a year or two ago, probably while A&E was running a S1 marathon as S2 was beginning. I think half the reason I started watching was for the scenery; the show takes place in Wyoming and my wife and I are just dying to see the American west. Apparently, the show is based on a series of mystery books involving a Wyoming sheriff. At it's bare bones, I suppose it's a cowboy cop show but the characters are well played and each have an interesting storyline. I cannot believe Robert Taylor, who plays the main character, Walt Longmire, is also one of the "other" two agents from The Matrix! I can't deny that Katee Sackhoff in tight jeans and cowboy boots is a very nice sight although one of her fellow male deputies wears jeans that may be the tightest I've ever seen. I'm also intrigued by the fact that there is a Cheyenne Indian reservation within the sheriff's county and there is a lot of friction between the Cheyenne law enforcement and the Sheriff's. There is also tension, at times, as the different cultures attempt to coexist. Lou Diamond Phillips plays a Cheyenne that owns a bar and is also Walt Longmire's long time good friend. All in all a superior show, in the opinion of my wife and I, and there aren't very many that we really like these days. Curious if anyone else watches?

I started watching during the season 1 marathon also. I flat out love this show. If Walt Longmire were in it, it would be enough for me to watch it, but add in all the other great characters, really good overall story arc, and setting, its one of my favorite shows.
I normally hate "investigation of the week" shows. CSI being the best example. But it doesn't bother me in this show, mainly i think because by season 3 the overall story arc is always in focus no matter what other cases come up.
I just pray it continues the way its going and doesn't jump the shark when they run out of ideas for small town Wyoming.

I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Well we just finished watching the finale of Longmire from last night. They managed to leave us with our mouths hanging open in the final minute. Really enjoyed it and am now pissed that it's gone for months to come. This season was really well done.

I tend to agree with that. But senior must not have thought Walt could be as tough/stubborn/contrary as he is if he thought his (Walt's) wife's death would drive him (Walt) from being Sheriff. Although I suppose it may have been close at one point.
Can't believe 10 weeks have ripped by already since S3 started!

Ah, forgot their was a thread.
So, Yeah, it was their 2nd most watched show and they canceled it because it wasn't drawing the age demographic they wanted.
More time for reruns of Duck Dynasty I guess.

I had not heard that Longmire had been picked up, but we were certainly hoping someone would. That's fantastic!

S4 up on Netflix today!
Watched the 1st episode last night. So glad to have this show back! We were a little surprised by the results of the S3 cliffhanger, but overall, I'd say good premier. Plenty of things to focus on for the season.
Spoiler
I didn't try to watch more than the 1st ep, but Netflix showed 10. Are they all available to watch now?

I started watching Longmire last week. I'm hooked. Love the characters, love the backdrop, love the little descriptions of life in Wyoming (being an east coaster). I just finished the cattle rustling episode in season 2. It's awesome that they are not rushing the backgrounds of the characters, the personal plotlines, etc.
Oh,and the music is excellent!

Finished season 5 last night. Wasn't my favorite season, but interesting information came to light throughout the 10 episodes.

Just started S2.Crime of the week does little for me but the setting and characters carry it nicely.S1 almost lost me til the cult episode. Some were good and some were meh after that, but the good is very good.

S2-3 is where the show really starts to shine so enjoy.
Agreed, the backstory evolves rather nicely in S2 & 3. I joke with my co-worker that the murder of the week will quickly turn Absaroka county into a ghost town.
