Anyone any opinions on the debuts and if they are worth picking up?

For Best Debut Novel of 2013
Mark T. Barnes – The Garden of Stones – 47 North
David Guymer – Headtaker – Black Library
Brian McClellan – Promise of Blood – Orbit
Antoine Rouaud – The Path of Anger – Gollancz
Luke Scull – The Grim Company – Head of Zeus

Grim company and promise of blood are both good. The path of anger is on my radar but I haven't picked it up yet. Not heard of the other two?

Also its a mystery to me how the daylight war got on a shortlist for best anything.

The best novel for 2013:

Peter V Brett – The Daylight War – Harper Collins UK
Mark Lawrence – Emperor of Thorns – Harper Collins UK
Scott Lynch – The Republic of Thieves – Gollancz
Robert Jordan & Brandon Sanderson – A Memory of Light – Orbit
Adrian Tchaikovsky – War Master’s Gate – Tor UK

I read all of them except for Tchaikovsky's. I was not a huge fan of any on the list to be honest. Emperor might be better than the other options, but it is hard to say.
