I just started up Skin Game.

A parasite is brought up which is apparently inside Harry... his head I think?

My memory is really vague about this topic.

Is this the root growth thingy that brought Dresden back from the dead/kept his body alive while his soul was gone?

Or is it something else? I assume it isn't the Nemesis thingy, since that thing seemed more like a virus or a spiritual malady than anything distinctly physical.

So, somebody remind me what this parasite is.

I don't think we are supposed to know much about it at the start of Skin Game. I felt like there was only vague mentions of it before.

It's not the root growth thingy (iirc that was to do with Demonreach), but it's first mentioned in that scene as being in on the act of keeping Harry alive.

What pg said. We don't know what it is.
That doesn't mean it's not connected to Nemesis, Lash, the wolf belt from bk2, whatever... but we know nothing.

There is something inside Harry's head. All we know about it is that it helped keep Harry alive, for which the price it asked was for Demonreach not to tell Harry about it. It's the cause of all the headaches he's been experiencing since about book 10 and it's going to kill Harry if Demonreach isn't around to suppress it before Molly can come by and fix it, hence why he's on the island.
