And 4 schmucks have already given it 5 stars. That's one reason I dislike goodreads.

Are these permanent star givings? Can they take them back if the book isn't indeed five stars?
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Check out Patrick Rothfuss's response to fans giving Doors of Stone 5 stars, it's pretty funny.

Edit: Clarification

While I'm not a big fan of steampunk as a genre...it's Butcher, so I'll be reading it.

Never read anything with steam punk, but as you as, its Butchers, so it's a day one buy anyway.

I'm so used to the name Pat referring to Pat's Fantasy Hotlist that for a second there I thought that Pat and bearded Pat was one and the same.

I thought we already had a Cinder Spires thread?

In any case, steam punk caper story in a Butcher-invented world with crazy semi-sentient asshole cats? I'm definitely on board with this.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Yup, not new news, but still awesome. I clicked this hoping there was some kind of timeline for release as I haven't really heard anything about this since last year. Oh well, at this point it's a countdown to Skin a Game anyway.

I don't really understand how you write a book with a small sound image and few words.

Yeah they can take them back. I sometimes amend my ratings a few months after finishing a book if my opinion has changed.

My biggest problem with Goodreads is probably the popularity contests. Year end awards (which are held before the year is over) always go to the books that have been read by the most people.

And Doors of Stone is #1 on the list of most anticipated fantasy books of 2014. When it was obviously never going to come out this year.

Still, I love the site for other reasons.

All that steam and yet you never see a character ironing their clothes.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

They button. Always with the buttons. Even with the zipper being invented in the middle of the steam age too.
