I ain't cynical. It's clearly gonna be a whole different animal from the first one, but there's all kinds of great detective stories to tell.

I'm excited for Farrel, since In Bruges I've liked him a lot more. Vaughn doesn't seem to fit the part, imo, but I'm willing to bet it will turn out well.

I'm excited. I think the biggest mistake they could make would be to try to hard to recreate the exact same formula from the first.

True. Farrel can totally do serious, even edgy, so my real curiosity is on what Vaughn can deliver in this sort of medium that's so far away from his usual 90min light comedy.

The problem with Vaughn is I cant take his face seriously. At least he will not be a detective.

Any idea what Vaughans role is going to be? Cause i could see him as a creepy serial killer.

Some sort of mafia guy I think.

There'll be a new director this time around too. Wonder what effect that will have on the show.

So, let me get this straight. Obviously we have an entirely new cast for the season, but there are going to be different directors and writers as well? Shit, at this point the only reason to hold on to the True Detective label is for marketing's sake.

Someone on Twitter pointed out that if you swapped out Colin Farrel for Jon Favreau, we'd have a bizarre, unofficial sequel to SWINGERS.

I'd pay good money to see that.

Where did you get that the writer is different? Nick Pizollato is still the writer/showrunner, it's his show. Changing directors is hardly unusual in TV shows, it's actually unusual as hell that Carey Fukunaga directed every episode of the 1st (it seems likely that the second will have more than one director, though if there is just one, it'll probably be Justin Lin, he's the name already linked and seemingly in to do at least the first two).
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Oh, that's good. Still have my doubts but not averse to giving it a try.

Vaughn played a serial killer in Clay Pigeons and I think he did a good job. I am super excited for the new season!

Was series 2 of this show actually any good? I never watched it because series was so absolutely fantastic that I genuinely never believed it even stood a chance of not disappointing me. Now I can't even remember whether I heard good or bad things about it, guess that's not a good sign but yeah how was it in the end?

It was fairly hard to watch, really. It was sort grittiness for its own sake. There's not a lot of detective-ing being done.

Long story short, it fails the "will you care what happens to the characters" test.
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

I thought season two was really good but not in the same way as season one. It is a totally different story. But the end pissed me off.

He was so frickin' good in Luke Cage, never seen a show go down hill so fast as that one after they killed his character off, most noticeable dip in quality within the same series of a show I have ever seen. He's definitely come a long way since he was in the 4400, he's one of those actors I'll watch anything with him in now.

EDIT: Still never got round to watching series 2 of this, no idea if I ever will.

BOOYAH!!!

S3 is a go. Staring Marshalla(sp) Ali aka Cottonmouth from Luke Cage!

He proper reference credit is House of Cards.

He was fine in Luke Cage, but we're talking 5 episodes in a meh show.
