It's not Martin or Rust - I think we can see that now.
I think that guy on the lawn mower at the end of episode 3 is our man or very connected. I had a weird feeling from him, then later we find the "devil traps" inside the school he was working outside of, and in this new episode, we hear the third guy was a giant. He was huge.

I think it's basically impossible that
I don't think the title of the show means anything specific to these characters. After all it's going to apply to stories in the future that have nothing to do with these two or this little world.

Up to ep 6...
Various online places are overloaded on theories and imagery significance.... people are loving this show so much.
Two eps to go... can't wait to see how it plays out.

Pizzolatto in an interview:
"So in episode five—not to spoil anything—Cohle gives one of his metaphysical addresses. And you can see it as Job crying out to an uncaring God—or you could see it as a character trapped in a TV show yelling at the audience. I think that much, at least, is safe to print."

Quite the reveal at the end of the episode. The boat coming up the river during the pull away shot was brilliant. They are close!
This better not have a Shyamalan twist. Or if it does, it better work and work well.

JUst chiming in to say I caught up with the latest episode, and I love this show so freakin much. What I love most is that there is only one episode left and there won't be a next season with the same characters. It makes it so much more realistic.
I don't know too much about all the theories here, but Tapper seems to make a lot of sense. There is def something up with Maggie and the kids, or it wouldn't have taken up so big a part and they wouldn't have thrown in all those things about their kids' sexuality. One thing about detectives is that they have amazing instincts, and are told to trust them and usually do. There's a reason why Marty hates Maggie's dad, and the way he reacts to him underlines more than just 'not getting along'.
The cover up is obvious. What we need to find out now is how all the threads are connected. I expect much, and I hope to God this show doesn't let me down.
EDIT: One thing though...
This is a very immersive show, but does the overt product placement cause anyone else to get snapped back into the real world as abruptly as it does me? I mean the Lone Star stuff is gratuitous enough, but there have been many others, too. T-Mobile, Camel cigarettes (very shrewd, tobacco industry...very shrewd indeed) to name two more. Just one minor issue with an otherwise excellent concept.

Theorizing that one could poop within his own lifetime, Doctor Poopet led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top secret project, known as QUANTUM POOP. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Doctor Poopet, prematurely stepped into the Poop Accelerator and vanished. He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from partial amnesia and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own bowels was made through brainwave transmissions, with Al the Poop Observer, who appeared in the form of a hologram that only Doctor Poopet could see and hear. Trapped in the past, Doctor Poopet finds himself pooping from life to life, pooping things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that his next poop will be the poop home.

Man, I totally didn't catch some of the clues presented in this video. I sure do hope HBO runs all of the episodes prior to the finale on Sunday so I can see for myself.

Well, that was unexpected- no revelations whatsoever in that episode really, yet managed to be satisfying.
