Has anyone read Steelheart? Any good? I have Audible credit I need to use. I loved Mistborn and The Emporers Soul.

I have heard it's pretty good if kinda YA. Also I got spoiled on the weakness and I was almost totally right so there.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I'm curious about this as well--Audible had a free 5-chapter excerpt floating about some months back and it didn't impress me all that much. The topic just felt...hackneyed. If you're ok with YA, Sanderson's Rithmatist was enjoyable, albeit lightweight.

I enjoyed it. Very YA at points and some of the supers names verge on irritatingly silly, but great action and pace and overall entertaining.

Yep, nicely self-contained even so.

It is $1.99 on Amazon today. ;) I went ahead and grabbed it on Audible. I worked overnight last night so I got to listen to most of it. So far so good.
