Not sure if any of you have seen this, but I thought some might be interested.

Personally I have issues with what DC have chosen to ask people to draw, but I thought I would flag this anyway.

Wow...that is...what?

so they want to test artistic skill via creative suicide???

I know its a great opportunity and all but I actually wouldn't want to work on a comic I wouldn't pick up myself.

Edit: Still great find, thanks Ribald!

it'll stress you out even more so there's really nothing we can do about it after all.

I wonder how this is creative suicide? I mean, that's a typical comic script, you do get told what to draw specifically for each panel with many of the more long-running/known series/characters. If you're looking at working for DC or Marvel, you will get this 90% of the time.

Sorry, but I felt that this had to be said.

The only problem I have with this is that DC ain't known for their good treatment of their creative talent.. They bullied the best they had until those ran away and now they're looking for new meat.

Apologies, but as this is the art forum I thought it would be of more interest here as it is an opportunity to get a job at DC.

If you want it moved let the mod know and move it elsewhere.

I feel like what Toraneko had in mind was something else. She [?] seems to be under the impression that comic art is not appreciated in this forum, which is not, and has never been, the case. As far as I'm aware of, anyway.

Tbh,this thread interests me immensely. I'm losing the fight with my own laziness, though. There seems to be no proper deadline and I dislike this kind of wishy-washy contest.

Sorry Puck, by creative suicide I meant the nature of the scenes are (or at least appear to be) all depictions of Harley planning a suicide in some form or other and that's rough subject matter to tackle without context/narrative etc. It is true: stormy nights looking down at a city, reptiles, tasteful nudity; all these things fall comfortably into the Comic art staple. I just wouldn't like to read, and therefore work on, a comic with humor and scenes I don't really get or enjoy. Harley has potential though, just not seeing it coming through the panels mentioned. I would not pic a page full of this and think to myself, well hey, there's something I'd take home to read.

And yeah you're quite right about DC, it tends to strangle creative freedoms in their art teams, particularly in terms of story. Regardless it is a great door opener into the career of an artist. A really good idea that might discover the next great talent, who knows? My gripe remains though, its just not done in a way that excites me or people that are like-minded. Worry had it down in the first reply post. it kinda makes you lose faith in DC...
