(like he owes them money, lol)

The Heels remind me of the Boleads and other 'constructs'. Fisher also has a special ability/status that seems at odds with how he is presented (as a bard/poet) I can't remember the specifics, but I do recall Fisher being capable of defending himself in extraordinary circumstances. What is the symbol on their shields (the Heels) and what does it represent? Ie: where is Fisher from? Is it Assail? Is that why they are all tough bastards?

There are certain passages of the chapter openings that suggest that Fisher could be very, very old. Some kind of ascended bard that represents the aspects of poetry or some such. On the other hand the knowledge he seems to posses could just be from him getting his hands on a big chunk of Gothos Folly and similar archives of knowledge.

What ever the case, my money is on him being an ascendant and a very potent one at that. Has he been to Assail? Most likely but I doubt that is where he originates from, he's probably older than the current ages empires and governments.
