So, I'm probably just too thick to understand it, but when Korlat is describing what happened to Whiskeyjack and the two Marines after Kallor kills the three of them, she lies about when Whiskeyjack's leg gave out on him in the fight. What was her motivation for this? Obviously, Mallet is distraught because he probably could have saved Whiskeyjacks life by healing his leg in the months prior, so are her lies an attempt to spare Mallet the torture of blaming himself for Whiskeyjacks death? Or is there something else at play there?
