Just seen it. RIP. Absolutely mad that it turns out that the book he was writing when he found out he was dying of cancer was about a man dying of cancer. Wtf.

I've just seen this on the news.
He was truly an inspirational writer.
He seemed to be doing well so it's a shame that he passed so early and with just a few weeks before the release of The Quarry.
I'm really looking forward to the book now and I'm sure that his final novel will be every bit as good as his first.

Very sad news 
Loved both of his styles though I probably enjoyed the Culture books slightly more.
Living in Glasgow I always thought "ah well i missed out on signing tickets this year but he will be back next year." Gutted I never got to meet the man!
