That was a rough pick at 6th, with the way two QBs went so early.

I had Martin as my first pick, then AP and Foster. Figured those 3 go easily. After that, wasn't sure if the other two picks would take a non RB, but once these top 3 backs were gone, I considered Rodgers and Breez myself.

So basically left a choice between Lynch, whom I really wanted, and Charles and Spiller.

I didn't go with my gut on Lynch, and it was a tough call going with Charles over Spiller.

Like I said, this wasn't a fun spot/pick. Charles seems the 'safe' pick, but Lynch could do a really great season if he doesn't share too many snaps. And Spiller is a superstar in the making for this years system.

There are 22 picks between my first pick and my second pick, I don't want to hear it :p

Charles would have been my first option by a long distance if he had made it this far - there were very few risks surrounding him.

I'll decide in the next couple of hours, then it is on to Tatts. Essentially, I need to assess what RBs fall to round 2 if I go for Megatron or if it is better to leave him.

Although Morrison was down around #10, I considered him myself at #6. Lynch might have to share too much with that backup Turbin, who is actually decent for a backup, and of the remaining backs, Morrison could end up being the stud of the latter part of round one picks, especially if RGiii has altered his scramble style , due to last years injury, even the slightest. They may ask him to try to stay in the pocket like that had Michael Vick do after that nasty leg and rib injury he suffered the season before.

And it worked. Vick had one of his better years with passer rating and wins, and Turner looked like a newborn superstar that year.

I also really thought on Morrison, but we all can't have everything.

PS: there's not enough simulation for numbers based on our snake draft method. Next year, even if I get last lucid I'd prefer traditional if we could.

@Oh Dee Bee - same thing happened to me last year. Had 22 spots between first and second pick.

There is Straight Draft, Snake Draft, and Auction Draft. Snake Draft is pretty much the standard.

Spiller's return points were tie-breaker for me.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I've only ever seen straight drafts in keeper leagues.

Can't pass on the AP, though I did briefly considered Foster. I would have been happy with either one, even most first round RBs are solid this year.

Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about getting Foster as the 5th pick. I know I should be very happy with it but I have this sinking feeling that my good fortune is just a mirage. Can anyone say Ryan Mathews?

I can say Ryan Matthews, but I sure as hell won't type it in the Draft Thread anytime soon...

@ HD: I had a lot of benefit of Spiller last year, and with that in mind it was a hard decision to pass on him. He's imho a 2nd round steal but as a first rounder, a guy who has a new offense, a new QB (whether it is Kolb or Manuel) and on the assumption every analist has that the Bills won't be doing some form of time sharing, he is a bit scary, definately high risk/high reward.

Eh, I can afford a couple mild busts. Waiver wire wins the league.

Bad sign that 12 hours in Marv Albert's Toupee hasn't drafted yet.

It's a good thing we started so early this year, plenty of time to pick. That said, I'll see you all next weekend when my second pick comes up haha

There is no timer yet, right? Plus, it is weekend and Shin also had a whole topic devoted to his timetable and problems with time zones in the mafia forum.

Thay being said, i think he'll go for the Raiders defense amd Billy Cundiff...

If it's Shin, someone needs to PM him. He's running into automatic draft level in the 1st.

I'm around often enough that if people want to PM their picks to me, I can draft if they are not going to be able to get online.

Um...sorry, I'm confused. I thought I'd get a draft notice from Yahoo or something. How is this draft working?

Sorry, all my time on the forum recently has been setting up my Mafia game.

You go to the draft thread and copy the choices above you then make your pick.

It is a snake draft, so the the order reverses every other round. (that means you actually have 2 picks in a row, one for the end of round 1 and one for the beginning of round 2.)

So Brujah you taking Cam Newton with your next pick? I do have him as my next hightest rated QB which I find odd?
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.
