Second Round of Pairings.

This bout faces two of the coolest and most awesome characters of the Malazan Universe.
Kalam Mekhir and Iron Bars.
Bridgeburner Elite vs Toughest Avowed
Both are too stubborn to die.

Who wins?

I vote Kalam, mainly because even though that Iron Bars is awesome and one of the top Avowed, I remember Kalam's fighting skill being compared to Dancer by Topper. Assasins I beleive have the upper edge against blade opponents.

I was the only Bars voter? :D i guess loyalty is in the hizhouse!!!

/you know how easily bars tears throught the edur and skill rhulad in MT, you know how he can strangle a man to death after severe starvation And having his heart squeezed by same man in a mad science bid to see how long the avowed can live??? you know how he's compared to Dassem? Yeah...well sure if it's dark in here Kal's gonna red smile that mofo, but unless it's assassin scenario, I think the semi immortal bars would always got it :apt:

I agree Kal is a better character, but .... knives vs swords? that's not a game anyone wanna play :D

The thing about Rhulad, though, is that he's not hard to kill. The trouble is that he doesn't tend to stay dead. So putting him out of action once isn't that huge an accomplishment. Though Iron Bars certainly has a lot to back up his badassitude.

It depends on the situation, I suppose.
Laseen did nothing wrong.

I demand Telorast & Curdle plushies.

head on, MT Iron Bars would get Kalam. On the other hand if its ROTCG/SW Iron Bars or if he doesn't see Kalam coming, its over.

It looks like Kalam might be edging away from Mr. Bars, here.

We need more votes.

Picture the scene - a windswept tower somewhere dramatic, Kalam Mehkar on top skulking in the shadows, Iron Bars coming out of a tavern at the foot of said tower and farting, said tower collapsing into a pile of rubble, blood and shit, I guess you know where I'm coming from now....

Tough call this one...

At the height of his game, Kalam could just barely take a possessed Enkaral. He needed help from QB with FA.
Bars fought five full blood Toblakai gods to a standstill but couldn't kill any of them without help from Ublala and Silchas.

Call that a draw.

Kalam managed a long walk after white paralt dosing.
Bars strangled a man who had his hands inside his chest.

Call that another draw.

Kalam single handedly (more or less) took on the entire Claw, twice.
Bars... killed a bunch of Edur. And Rhulad.

Kalam takes that one for sheer awesome.

Kalam says the professional swordman will usually beat the professional assassin face to face.
But the professional assassin would make sure the swordsman didn't see him coming.

Fuck. Another draw.

...in the end, i have to go with sheer badassery. Bars spends most of the books wandering from place to place being beat up while Kalam racks kills and does so with style.

So i'm going with Kalam for this one.

This is a great matchup. It'd be cool to see Kalam vs one of the lesser Avowed, too.

I voted Kal. After seeing what he did against multiple elite Claw in BH, and the fact that everything slows down to him when he fights and that he can break through iron locks using only brute strength, I think he's one of those few, special fighters who could go toe to toe with Avowed Guardsmen.

That's just me, though
