I just think of the ones we don't know as historians who aren't part of the story but are being used by SE to relay information. I don't think they critical to the story line, they are more like comments.

Some introductory passages are written by Kel Tath, some simply by (unknown) Fisher.. also some, such as poem Anomandaris, tell of the past events, yet at least one passage written by Fisher tells about quite recent events.. in MoI, one passage mentions that Krul is about to awake. Or was this also from Anomandaris ? Dont have books with me now..
Also one of the passages is excerpt from
Confessions of Arthantos.. might indicate that Tays will survive through the series ?

I don't know if SE will explain. but I take comfort from the fact that there is an explanation.
For all we know we've already met Fisher Kell Tath, by a different name. He could be anyone.
My money's on Moby. He's now got a lot of spare time and no crockery with which to pass it. Writing would help while away the millenia.

So what's the deal with this poet? He is Erikson's foremost poet, it seems, as in the most recent books he seems to start off more and more chapters.
In fact, I wonder wherein all the poets fit. Ones like Toc the Younger are obviously in the story. How critical were others to their time?
Certain ones are hags and stuff, probably not super important. But will the others ever get explained at all? We know SE explains almost everything else in the books.
I've gotten to the point that I'd like to meet/learn more about Fischer Kel Tath.
In fact, I don't have the books handy (damn mootching friends) but does he not have other names as well? Fischer _______ _________?

Tattersail, Hairlock and Callot quote Fisher Kel Tath's Anomandaris in GotM, referring to his works as 'old epics', so whoever it is must have lived for quite some time.

I don't think he could have died long ago, as he has writen poems on recent events... though there may be a distincion between fisher and fisher kel tath with fisher being around more recently...
Personally I think he's likely to be an andii or a jaghut... though it is possible that he is a long lived human or ascendant
