Big "hell yeah" on this one. The series has top caliber potential. Hope this fucker hits #1.

Actually enjoyed Red Skies more, cool pirate ladies and spooky ghost islands and all that. I can see why some people disliked it, it was a bit derivative, but for me I enjoyed Locke and Jean so much that it didn't really bother me.

I enjoyed reading Lies and Red Skies, so I'll preorder the ebook.

I've had Lies sitting on the shelf for three or four years, so I guess it's time I got around to reading it! :p

Me too, I enjoyed both of them a lot and have had RoT pre-ordered (in print form) for a while, now.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

QFT. Lies was a great book and Red Skies was a stinking pile of shite. Still, it's worth the gamble. Here's hoping

ETA: to anyone who wants to dispute the shittiness of Red Skies, I draw your attention to one of the worst cliffhangers ever - planned for seven books (say it ain't so - these characters don't have the legs for that) and it's going to be the Adventures of Jean Tannen? Give me a fucking break. Also, the capers were pedestrian. The best part of that book was the 'reverse burglar' line.

It's a damn shame because Lies was brilliant.

and the TBR pile grows...
Monsignor:...Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.
Connor: [as the brothers exit the church] I do believe the monsignor's finally got the point.
Murphy: Aye.

Red Seas has its share of flaws but I think qualifying it for 'shitty' status is going way too far. The worst things were the cheap false tension created by the opening and the not-explaining-what-Locke-was-doing that had to be maintained in contrived ways.

I know a lot of people disliked the pirate bit but tbh on its own merits it was fine, it was just weaving the two separate plot threads together caused pacing difficulties.

It was all still a lot of fun, imo.

Quick-Fuckin'-Tidal.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
―Gene Wolfe, The Citadel of the Autarch
