Solid book, was hooked from the start. Just one question has been bugging me, when Admiral Nok is mentioned to Kyle it's said that he probably won't know who he is in his homeland, but he does and it's never really explained?

Nok recognizes, immediately, that Kyle being from Assail is extraordinary because find someone else from there. Greymane notes that he is from Bael, which is away from the troubles of really, really bad Assail, but evidently he still has the capabilities of badassery.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
