Rejoice friends and addicts for it is time for a small dresdencrack fix! Yes, it's that magical time of the year when Jim Butcher releases frequent preview chapters and chapter one is great.

And now commence the argument about waiting for release. Spoilers- waiting isn't worth it.

Chapter 2 is up, and I'm not going to link it.
...

...but I WILL!

And seriously, how are any of you not reading this?
...how Butcher can tell the reader so bloody much in such a small space just blows my mind sometimes...

Locked in my pre-order. May 27, 12:01 am or sooner. There will be no sleep that night.

OK the 27th is coming very slowly. Almost slowly enough to make me want to click on the sexy links and read the chapters. Thankfully I am too lazy to go back through and find the first, then the second etc.

Hey Tiste, try your local bookstore on the way home from work. I just popped my head into my local Waterstones in Cork, and they had SKIN GAME in hardback already on the shelf. So I now have my reading for the next few days sorted (who am i kidding, it'll probably be an all-nighter,since I have have hours to kill this evening while waiting to collect people from the airport).

In case that's no good, the just go to JIM BUTCHER's WEBSITE at the top post gives you all the links to the sample chapters in one easy stop.

4 days? I can hold out.

Easy to do when I've an enthralling biography of Malcolm X (not the Haley ghost-written autobiography that plays with facts) on deck.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I might do but I have the entire series thus far on Kindle and I don't want to get book 15 by itself on a bookshelf...

I'm fairly sure that waiting 26 years before I got married to have sex was easier than this wait...

Dude I'm fairly sure waiting through dinner to have sex was easier than this wait...

...I have no idea what that means, but argh, bad wait.

Not trying to rub it in or anything, but I'm reading it again now just to re-confirm all the awesome things that happened in it.

OK - totally rubbing it in. But, ye've only a few more hours to wait, and then the discussions can begin in earnest.

As for the book itself, it's very good, but I didn't find it as satisfying overall as some of the previous installments. I'm sure others will disagree and say it was amazing, and their favourite, but it just didn't engage me as thoroughly as the last 3 did. Again, there are some great individual scenes, and some food for thought as to how events here will play out long term, which is why I think it will stand up well to being re-read in the future.

Will be interested to see how the rest of ye found it.

So the plan was to wait till the honeymoon (Thursday night) to start this, but seeing as I am just today out of book to read...my guess is that I'll be reading this on my Kindle in the morning and MIGHT finish before we leave!

Ah well.

Luckily I've got three other books to read en vacances.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

The Great Text Giver Kobo delivered SKIN GAME unto me last night, about 7 agonizing minutes after midnight.

Forced myself to stop and go to sleep around 2:30am. Stupid work.

On the bright side, the shakes have stopped, the hallucinations are quietening down and 8 chapters in it's DRESDENCRACK GOODNESS!
