Patriots are just too damn good. After almost a decade now, they still CONSISTENTLY, year after year, run that short pass, and slant pass offense that everyone knows is coming, but no one can do SHIT about it. The only way to beat them on a normal day is to out-shoot them, going score for score. Their defense is good, but it's beatable. It's just nearly impossible to out-shoot them WEEK after WEEK, and YEAR after YEAR. I can't see anyone keeping pace with them, unless they just screw the pooch on defense, or have that 'once every 5 to 10 games' low scoring game.

I only really felt that the Broncos could match them, score for score. Plus Manning and Brady have had some really EXCEPTIONAL games against each other over the last 8 or so years, whether it was a late in the season game, when they were both 10-2, 12-2, etc, and playing each other for a better record, and home field advantage in the AFC, or when we had those couple rare AFC playoff games pitting them against each other, that were always down to the last drive shoot-outs. The Patriots, a few years back, had that run where just about NO ONE could really be expected to be able to beat them, but Manning and the Colts. So call it a little bit nostalgia.

I don't think the Niners can keep up their high scoring pace, and I really can't see them performing as well as they did when they beat the Pats a few weeks back. And if the Niners can't do it, I REALLY don't think Matt Ryan can keep pace with Brady. But that's why they play the games, I guess. I just can't see it, unless these Texans can pull off this comeback, down by 10 with 4 mins left in the 4th. (Doubt it).

Man, I even kind of hate the patriots. They beat my Panthers in the Superbowl back in 2003, I believe it was. I've hated them ever since Drew Bledsoe, actually. I hate Bill Bellicheck, too.(spelling?). Oh well. It might just be a lock for the Pats, unless the Ravens can pull another rabbit out of their see. Flacco is an average QB at BEST, and he got so lucky with those passes last game, that he should be ashamed. Plus why even keep putting Champ Baily on Torrey Smith by himself, when it was obvious after the first quarter that he couldn't do it alone. They could have dropped the safety back, but just kept repeating the same foolish mistake, over and over. That's Jon Fox for you. That's why he got fired from Carolina. He's retarded.

I wonder how many more years Brady has left in him. I wonder if they can continue to play at such a high caliber level once he IS gone.

We're not very good at the format A, are we. Tapper is in the best shape...

I think the 49rs win it all. The Falcons aren't that disimilar from the Packers, except the Packers are better. The Falcons better running game won't help much against San Fran. The Patriots vs 49rs is my current Super Bowl pick, with San Fran taking it.

So, obviously, I pick San Fran and Patriots this week.

Bonus Question #2 - Which two teams make it to the Superbowl?

I say Patriots vs Falcons in the Big Bowl.

My pick for Superbowl, copied from the thread I made during week 12.

As well as other Super Bowl picks some of you made during week 12, as well.

Thats alot of good teams.

I think the patriots look unstoppable right now, so thats my vote.

SB guess Pats v 49ers.

Atlanta will be 1 and done again.

Before the season started i picked Houston vs SF for the Super Bowl. So i'll stick with that pick.

If you cant tell, i'm a big fan of teams who can run the ball and actually tackle well.

I'm still pretty confident in the SF pick, but Houstons defense is starting to get some major holes in it. They havent been as good since Brian Cushing went down. And now Reed and Bradie are showing injuries too.

If the Giants get knocked out, then SF all the way. It's just that NYG seem to be the 49ers Kryptonite team! What would I like to see? 49ers v Ravens in the final. Unlikely, but possible. Am liking our (SF) new QB at the moment, hopefully he will get better and also cause Alex Smith to up his game at the same time.

Tiste with a wish for a Ravens - Niners Superbowl. Your wish is still alive, so far. You have a 25% chance of being right at this point, not considering the skill levels of the teams. 50% chance of Niners, and 50% chance of Ravens. So 1 in 4 says you're get your wish, although if you factor in the skill level of each team, I'd give Pats a higher than 50% chance on beating Ravens, and I'd give the Niners a slightly higher than 50% chance of beating the Falcons. Just so I can come up with a guestimate percent, I'll give Pats a 70% chance of winning, therefore Ravens get 30%, and Niners a 55% chance of winning. So you end up with a 16.5% chance of seeing your Superbowl wish being granted. Not too bad for a pick made back in week 12.

Considering both Venge and I had the Pats playing the Bronco's and the Texans playing the Ravens, I could have done better by studying the schedule for a second :D (although I would not have changed much).

49ers over Patriots in the Superbowl... I think the way to beat the 49ers is through a great defense coupled to a good or better offense, rather than a nuclear arsenal on offense but a passable defense only. The only team suiting that description was the Seahawks.

I watched the first half of Bronco's - Ravens and while the Ravens O was much better than I expected, especially in the pass, Manning was finding gaps in their Defense - Brady will do that, too. So I don't see the Ravens cause yet another upset sadly, even with the Gronk injury, unless perhaps they find a way to have Ed Reed playing in a sort of spy position between Wes Welker and Brady while having a back-up in the deep zone as well.

Pats and Falcons in the Superbowl.

And since I missed the window for Format A, my choices were:

Wild Card

Redskins over Seahawks
Colts over Ravens
Texans over Bengals
Packers over Vikings

Division

Pats over Texans
Broncos over Colts
Falcons over Redskins
Packers over Niners

Conference

Pats over Broncos
Falcons over Packers

Superbowl

Pats over Falcons

I didn't put my picks down in time so here yah go. Better late than never, right?

Tattersail alone with his Falcons vs Ravens pick for Superbowl.
Tiste alone with Niners vs Ravens.
I'm alone with Pats vs Falcons.
Everyone else with Pats vs Niners.

Can't wait.

Well, I have been hoping for the Ravens in the Superbowl all along the way, and partly out of supersitition I haven't been picking them as winners in any round, but wow, this was beyond expectation. Here's hoping they don't deflate like a balloon, and that they can put the pressure on the SF O-line when Kaepernick has the ball.

the one down-side: Flacco is going to get paid way beyond his capabilities based on this year's result :(. And I don't know what this will do for Ed Reed going into free agency.

So now the question is, do the 49rs win (like I think they should), or are the Ravens this years NYGiants, who beat everybody despite being the underdog every week?

Format A Pick:

Wildcard Round
Packers over Vikings
Seahawks over Redskins

Texans over Bengals
Ravens over Colts

Divisional Round

Packers over 49rs
Falcons over Seahawks

Broncos over Texans
Ravens over Patriots

Conference Championship

Falcons over Packers
Ravens over Broncos

Super Bowl

Ravens over Falcons 36 - 28

Noticed I had put Texans to beat Bengals and then Broncos to beat Bengals when it was meant to be Texans.

COME ON RAVENS!!!!!

So Ravens won 34 - 31

I had 36 - 28 which was pretty close.

I didn't take note though, holidays and work, this all just passed me by.
