I don't understand if the high house shadow of Shadowthrone and Cotillion has a relationship with the TIste Edur who are the children of Shadow. The high house Dark that Anomander Rake is a part of has a relationship with the Tiste Andii.
I don't recall there being any mention of the tiste edur having any affiliation with the gods of shadow. Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks.

The Edur are children of shadow just like the Andii are children of dark, in the prolouge you read about Scandabari Bloodeye also known as Father shadow. The just of it is that the realm of the tiste edur (Kurald Emuralhan (probs spelled wrong)) was sundered a long time ago so there are only fragments of it left. The edur can still access only a few of them. Maenas and Rashan are both part of Kurald Emurahaln (though the edur probably don't use these). Shadowthrone on the other hand is basically at the front gate of what was once Kurald Emurhaln, its a more powerful fragment but still just part of a whole. The just of all this is that the Edur and Shadowthrone have no relation beyond that they both use fragments of the same warren.

Just because Ganoes Paran surmised about Shadowthrone controlling "the gatehouse" in MoI doesn't make it true. Paran is new to his power and many of his "gut" instincts are wrong - ie in MoI he also said he felt that the Edur found washed up in the Pannion Domin was murdered by another Edur, and here in MT we know that is not true (it was Bugg). I would argue that the part of the Shadow Realm that Shadowthrone has overtly claimed is far more than just the front gate, given that the Shadowkeep is in it, as well as the religious/pantheonic influence it has given him, plus control of the Hounds.

Anyways...

First of all, keep in mind that MT occurs before even GotM, so Shadowthrone and Cotillion are not in the same position during MT as we see them in GotM/DG/MoI/HoC. Secondly, Lether and the Edur lands are in an area that is magically and religiously regressed compared to the rest of the world, due to Gothos' freezing the area, hence there being no warren access, no influence from the High Houses, etc and that means no connection to Shadowthrone's influence on Shadow.

As for how do things currently stand? Remember in HoC that Edur fleets were assaulting the Tiste Andii defending the Throne of Shadow on Drift Avalii, and Shadowthrone and Cotillion sent agents of theirs there to help defend it as well (and then Cotillion ended up taking it personally). The implication is that the throne on Drift Avalii is the dominant throne of shadow, and that the Shadowthrone which Ammanas has sat upon (giving him the title Shadowthrone... uh, nomenclature...) only grants control of a portion of the Shadow realm - mainly that which is considered Meanas. Supposedly the Throne of Shadow on Drift Avalii would grant something more - maybe even limited control over all the sundered fragments of what was once Kurald Emurlahn. As of HoC, obviously Shadowthrone, Rhulad and Anomander Rake are all aware that it is on Drift Avalii and have personal interests in the Throne's disposition....

The rest is Read And Find Out!!!

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Why yes, I do enjoy quite a relationship with the Tiste Andii.
