Cumberbatch cant be khan...khan be an indian :)

Originally played by a Mexican. They kind of play fast and loose with the races on Movies and Television.

Fixed.

Different longer trailer (I adore the music choice in this teaser...haunting!)...plus I am now REALLY interested in Cumberbatch's line at the end when his hand is up to Spock's hand over the force-field...."What wouldn't you do, for family"...it's just interestingly placed...

hmmm...might John Harrison actually be some form of alt-reality Sybock?

Just saw this yesterday. Absolutely brilliant mindless fun. Loved every second of it! :p
The problem with people who have no vices is that generally you can be pretty sure they're going to have some pretty annoying virtues.

It was ok. Had some serious issues with it, and its apeing of a previous film. Reminded me of Predators at parts, you know, where they simulate a past film so much, you wonder whether you would be better off at home just watching the better original. Not to say there were no good parts, the first hour I enjoyed. Just fell apart a bit after that.

Loved it. Unabashedly.

And I honestly can't see how anyone could take issue with much beyond Star Trek-traditionalists.

I thought it was even better than the first one. Great stuff throughout.

STAR WARS EpVII is in good hands as far as I am concerned.

Thought it was pretty awesome. Wouldn't say I liked it more than the first one, but I did like Cumberbatch more than anything in the first one.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Most of it was really good - better than the first one. The ending, in my opinion, was shit.

Agree there, though. As long as Lindeloff isn't involved. Which he isn't, at this point.

High expectations and still really, really enjoyed it. Not as much as the first, but great fun and visually absolutely awesome on the big screen.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Saw it last night and really enjoyed it. Blenderdick Custardbath was absolutely superb in every scene he was in, particularly the one with Kirk when he's being held in the cell. No real problems with the WoK links and I enjoyed how Abrams sort of shed some light on how the federation became more militarised as opposed to primarily exploritary, something that has never really been explained satisfactorily imo. All in all i'd put it on a par with the first movie in that it left me wanting more. Nice to see Noel Clarke getting a little cameo as well.

With Custardbath doing thoughtful and menacing, I now know how Smaug the Magnificent is going to sound and i'm happy, not that it was ever in any doubt. With Sherlock getting another airing on BBC3 at the moment, I must confess the possibility that i'm becoming a Cumberbitch.
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.
Just look at em' now, already pullin' the plow. So quick to take to grain, like some old mule.

Saw it, hated it. I didn't have any expectations going in, but i probably should have been told its a mindless action flick with, to quote my brother, "so many plot holes you can drive a tanker truck through it", maybe i wouldn't have hated it as much. That and Spock

Saw it yesterday.

I was prepared to hate it, because I did not want to see the Khan story again.

But fuck me if I didn't LOVE it.

Only two gripes:

Oh, and
Spoiler
but that's minor bitching I guess.

Otherwise absolutely fantastic. I loved the whole look and even sound. The way the phaser bolts snap past you.

IMO way better than the previous installment.

And if you didn't see this in 3D, it is worth seeing in 3D.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Saw it, enjoyed it.

It was fun, it was consistent in tone with JJ's last Trek, it had wild action more or less nonstop, it moved most of the characters forward, and it had a bit of fun tribute to the original without lapsing into dated nonsense.

Sure, there were some plotholes, including the blood thing tho i agree with QT's explanation above, but nothing trully brutally glaring. And sure, most of the 'BIG' twists were utterly predictable (HarrisKhan, Evil Admiral, Scotty on the battleship, Khan's blood save), but if i want fucking brilliance and non-predictable i'll read SE. If i want massive starships blowing shit up on a massive screen and Zack Quinto breaking arms on flying cars, I'll buy whatever JJ Abrams is selling and then watch it again when it hits OnDemand.

I didn't see "Scotty on the battleship" coming.

LOL

And the Mrs. laughed at me afterwards for not seeing it coming.

Yeah, that's where I got too.

Oh, one other plothole:

Even here though, you can posit

But there's just not enough time to explain all that. I guess Abrams is just trusting the audience to supply the missing links.

So the plotholes were not fatal to my enjoyment.

Kirk asks Scotty to check something out.
Scotty drinks scotch, then goes to check it out.

What more do you need to know?

...other than how the fuck he just cruises into a super secret military installation, but like i said....
