What a chatty bunch we all are. How many players still have yet to check in?

So someone a little while back was talking about culture hunting. That would go along with the assumption that players of the same faction actually know someone from their faction. I can see that there will/probably are abilities that help identify other players and their cooresponding factions but I think that those abilites will be in the minority instead of the majority. So this makes be think that someone actually knows someone else in their faction. Or am I in a minority where I don't know anyone else from my own faction?

Well, people don't have to know other people to go culture hunting. You just do this: "hey, that guy was kinda sorta defending/not fully committed to the last lynch train, he MUST be on the same faction! Get him!"
The reasonable voices who would normally step in to say "but even if by some chance they were on the same faction, they most likely wouldn't know it, so the argument is invalid", would instead keep quiet, because otherwise they would know the mob would get them next. And that's how it works!

Ah! Mob mentality. Yeah that would make sense especially if the person leading the mob knew someone else on their team so the chances of hitting a third or possibly fourth person in their faction as very small that would be a good way to play it.

Anyone have any thoughts on to how many players are on each faction? I'm thinking that the Qadi would be the smallest at either 1 or 2 players since they don't in fact actually die so that would leave 16 players between 5 factions. So that would be ~3 players per faction with one faction having a fourth. Does that seem right?

I reckon just the one Qadi. As for the others, no idea, your guess seems reasonableish. It depends on the roles given out: If Tapper's dished out the big guns for a certain faction, then I would expect them to have fewer members. Judging from the last game, the Guild of Beggars was - initially, anyway - more handicapped than the other factions, and as a result they had more members than the other factions (if I'm remembering correctly - I could have just made all that up).

The last game had VCs so irregular factions worked as long as the abilities balanced. But this is last alliance standing so lynch power could be very powerful. Since Tapper originally wanted 19 players the simplest solution would be 1 Qadi and 3 of every other faction.

That would be a total of 16 players, and there are 18 of us.

Your math doesn't add up. hehehehe. Remeber that the Qadi is one of the factions. You are saying that the remaining 5 factions would have 3 each that would put it at 16 total players. (1 Qadi, 15 other players amoung 5 factions). There is going to be some uneveness amoung the remaining 5 factions anyway you splice it.

As for which one I'm thinking that the Beggars would be a likely canidate and possiblely the NP. I don't really know how that would balance out to tell you the truth. But I see the CoV and Nepath to be strong in the battle and magical protections so I don't see them as the larger faction. The Khans are raiders so they can cripple other factions by removing resources so I don't see them being larger either. I can actually see the HoA going either way depending on which Merchants are in the game. House of Iron Merchants can probably hold their own on the battle field. So yeah it's probably the Beggars and Night Profits that are the most numerous.

I'm not sure about the Night Prophets (Profits? Have we slipped into 'Dogma' here?) being more numerous - a single NP basically owned the game last time round, and the HoA won thanks in large part to his help.

Or to make this easier for the countingly-deprived there are 7 factions in the game.

1xQadi + 3x(7-1) = 19

Your post was on the next page. I didn't see it until after I already replied. And I caught the duplicate entry and gave you props for pointing it out first. So I don't understand your problem.

Ah, there are 7 factions including the Qadi, not 6. Was missing the Cult of Vultures in my count. Your math still doesn't make sense, though. 1 Qadi, 3 of each other then comes out to 19, and there are only 18 players.

Dunno what exactly but this post really pings my gut. Maybe its that you talk about there being 5 factions + Qadi when you then list the 6 in the next paragraph? It makes me think you are Qadi and haven't bothered to really think about the other factions because you are alone and just want to kill them all.

The last Qadi had a big string of bad luck but was dreadfully powerful so I'm going to follow my gut and

You really don't read the thread much do you? You ignored Galain's response to you take things the wrong way and generally miss a bunch. Like here you missed me clearly saying that my numbers were based on Tapper's originally wanting 19 players to sign up.

So you are flat out admitting you are part of a 7th unmentioned faction? What faction are you from and what are your victory conditions?

Beggars
Cult of Vultures
Night Prophet
Nepeth
Qadi
Houses of Agreement
Khanate Clans

Yeah. My apologies I can't count. I just doubled checked the victiory conditions on the first page and realized my mistake.

Factions:

1. Beggars Guild
2. Cult of Vultures
3. Houses of Agreement
4. Khanate
5. Nepeth
6. Night Prophet
7. Qadi

So, it can't be Qadi + 7 other factions.
