There is a Malazan reread at Tor.com. I can't recommend it enough, particularly the brief scene by scene breakdown of each chapter (before Amanda and Bill's opinions). I find it very helpful to read these chapter breakdowns every now and again just to make sure I'm not missing any obvious story links. They also offer a different insight as to what is going on, which helps me understand any areas I find puzzling. Obviously you guys on here are very very helpful also. I just think it is a useful tool which ties in areas of the story without big spoilers. Worth a look see.

Yeah, it's nice. I followed when I started. But it took me about 3minutes to catchup and surpass them. Really though? 2years? Right now SE+ICE is 14books. It took them 1full year to finish the first 4books, including the incredibly short NoK. So, for them to finish everything and possibly add FoD we are looking at a 4-5year re-read? Seriously? I mean sit down and think about that. They need to get people who don't read a chapter a month for these re-reads.

It's a couple chapters a week usually. And the hard part is writing it all.
As someone who's done something similar in a very different field, that's incredibly tough to do on top of a real world job and a personal life. It's a labor of love for the two and a monumental one at that. They're not professional writers. Cut them some slack, if you will.

Yah, plus there's the community aspect, which surely involves a good faith effort to accommodate a plenitude of schedules. And perhaps most importantly, SE and ICE's commitment to addressing each and every book at the end through Q&A, which surely has to be on a consistent schedule.

As a blogger myself I can only say that these people are re-reading at an amazing and amazingly consistent pace, seriously. Re-reading or reading a chapter is in itself not time-consuming, but even this demands some of your time, time where you maybe really wanted to watch a TV show, or take a shower, or read something else. On top of that they write pretty long breakdowns in addition to relatively long commentaries. I bet they are a) spending as much time as possible on this hobby,
they are probably a little sick of it from time to time and c) are getting some flak from family members.
But it is a very useful (well kind of) and entertaining thing they've got going and they deserve only accolades, nerd cred and standing ululation.

My alternate smartass comment would have been to R.I.P. Gary Coleman.
Anyway, the Malazan reread is moving along at a blazing speed, especially considering how freaking long the chapters are. I'm still nearly two books behind and not in much danger of overtaking them. It's the GoT reread I have to keep slowing down for. Although they finally started Storm of Swords. Hooray!
