In terms of raw content, I'd say Jaws of Hakkon leads the pack considerably. You get a whole new large and interesting area with a dungeon at the end, as well as some cool lore about the first Pinquisition and the Avvar... I'd say it's also the best of the bunch. Descent adds a long dungeon that's not nearly as much content as Jaws, but it's pretty cool overall. Trespasser is several hours added after the end of the base game. It's got some interesting stuff in it mainly lore-wise, but it could be said that much of it is at least hinted in previous games and especially in Pinquisition base game. It also bears the weight of being the Sequel Hook.

Are they worth it? Depends on your wallet, really. I'd say they are. They're not Citadel/Lair of the Shadow Broker level, but nevertheless I wouldn't say you'll be bored :(

So. Just past Almalexia (lel references). Much easier with two mages specced with improved barrier and dispel.

I've also rerolled another melee rogue but this time it's a Sabotage/Subterfuge build. Very interesting. The Hazams chain is excellent fun. Zipping all over the shop.

Yeah. Tempest seems more a spec geared towards archery - it's all buffs and whatnot from what I explored of it. I lean more towards the Assassination spec myself, purely for the tier 1 ranged attack. For a melee, a ranged attack that can crit for 6k+ is a massive bonus.

With Sabotage, I've gone down the Toxic Cloud route. Combined with a good tank who can maintain aggro, it does decent AOE damage. There's certainly a lot of movement and misdirection with this build - it's very heavily based on critical damage from stealth, get in, get out, get back in again. Effective so far, but we'll see how it fares against a dragon soon enough.

Tempest can be absurdly OP as ranged due to the fact that Flask of Fire works on Focus abilities. So yeah, Thousand Cuts spam ftw at no resource cost and cooldown, every 30 seconds!

Um I think I did something wrong. I went to fight that Imshael guy and died a couple of times without exploring the other conversation options. I then decided to see what would happen and I chose riches, and he left. I think that dude is going to be dead when I come down this snowy mountain I'm on... It's Emprise du Lion I think...

Picked this up cheap to keep me occupied until fallout. It's ok so far. Good enough to keep playing, but I haven't hit that point where I am excited to get home because I want to play so badly.

So after 170 hours of playing, I have completed this game (minus the DLC)! I basically did everything apart from collect a couple of mosaic pieces. This was my first Dragon Age game and (obviously, after that much time) I enjoyed playing it. And it was a gorgeous world which was fun to explore (though I got the sense that the Hinterlands got quite a bit more love from the development team than other parts of the world).

Perhaps I should have played it on a harder difficulty setting though, as in battles I only ever used my own character and never used any sort of tactics, aside from pausing to heal people on occasion - it made the dragon fights feel a little disappointing. Loved the to and fro random conversations between your companions, really added depth to them in a naturalistic way. A few of them had neat storylines too, such as Blackwall.

The main plot itself was a little meh, and the big bad was woefully utilised (the final fight, aside from the location, was also a letdown). I'm hoping the DLCs add a bit more to the ending of the game.

The Descent dlc is decent but covers something else. The Trespasser dlc however is the true ending/eilogue for this game.

Spoilers for towards the end of the game...

So I romanced Blackwall and things were going well! We get it on in the barn, he's a bit distracted but whatever, it's a pretty nice night (I saw the inquisitors boobs! I didn't think it was going to be that NSFW but it's cool. Doesn't matter, saw boobs...) Then he's gone.

Wait what. He's actually a treacherous ex-captain who killed some general for money!? Ouch. That stung a bit. Anyway I let him live but dumped his worthless butt.

It's OK though I hooked up with Cullen like 5 minutes later.

In more important news I think I have done just about everything and have headed to the Arbor Hills or Wilds or whatever. I get the feeling I might be facing Corypheus soonish...

In fact, if you have The Descent or Jaws of Hakkon, after the Wilds is when I'd recommend doing them. You get some Tier 4 schematics which are helpful when fighting Coryphabulous.

I played through this game a couple weeks past. Don't know why I didn't think to post in here.

I REALLY liked this game. I think that if I had played through it in 2014 it would have been my Game of the Year. There's just so much content and so many different layers in the game. Just the whole Inquisition management and Skykeep stuff alone was great. Really made me feel like it was a home I was building.

I liked how it built upon the previous game and expanded upon all of it to create an even more immersive story. Much like Mass Effect 2 it allowed you to delve deep into your relationship with the team characters and made me care a lot more about them.

I have to say though Viviene, Blackwall and Solas were a complete bore. I just couldn't manage to give much of a shit about them, all though Blackwall did have his moments. I more or less constantly rocked a team of Cassandra, Sera and Ironbull. The fun team. If I hadn't been playing a mage I would have put Dorian on the team since I felt he was hilarious.

I ended up romancing Cassandra. I loved the duality of her being this super serious, fierce and devoted religious warrior and then on the other hand she is a hopelessly romantic, big ol' softy when you get in under her armor. Loved the romance novel side story.

I thought the ending was a let down, mostly because I thought they would have shown us more about the whole Black City/Black Magisters stuff, but ah well. I liked how they wrapped it up with the celebration. That ending suggests that a fourth game might somehow manage to raise the stakes to an even higher level.
