*L* i do feel honoured Posted Image

and why do i feel as though i have been drinking.. even though i havent.. i am reading your comment and all the words just seem to jumble up.. like .. like its another language B)

so what did that lot actually mean? Posted Image

and *L* i can write happy. happy is easy. take this piece, just started typing it a few minutes ago. no premeditated intent.

Sitting in my dark throne,
In my dark room,
In the confines of a dark walled up mind,
I burn my hand once more.

You see the pretty boy,
Sitting here so comfortably,
Surrounded by a choir of angels,
A raising hymn of jubilations shimmering in the air.

Yet all i see in this eternal gloom is the fire,
The seductive dance of shadows cast on the wall,
From the pitch black hearth before me,
Pulsing a cold so intense it burns.

So this smile that you see and duplicate,
Its a smile for the ignorance of the wise ones,
For the innocence of childish elders,
For the memories of past lives we all hold deep within.

As the darkness embraces me once more,
As the hellish choir of angels howl a symphony of terrified screams,
As the fire burns fiercer yet,
Then remember these words.

No-one knows everything.
Those who think they do dont.
Those who believe they can see
Are infact more blind as the rest of us.

I will remember,
As i sit upon this devouring throne,
In my own cloak of darkness,
My cold little home.

see! HAPPY..... ah. ok you win. i cant write happy. Posted Image Posted Image

These tears are not for me. Nor are they for you. They are for unsaid regrets and buried memories. It is for them that i weep.

Soul, Weach - that stuff is all pretty good.

Her's alittle I have written, fragments and apocrypha... I'd say enjoy, but well, ...

Let the light in, just a little,
Turn the dark inside of me to something more uplifting -
Not Carnival bright; that joy is too strongly false for me,
Rather a Candle light - joy and sorrow work best by contrast.
And if the shadows are even darker than before,
Now at least I face them with a friendly fire.
And with that fire burning fiercely
Even those inner crystalline demons may be rejected.
And perhaps, if the flames do not burn me,
I may even find some constant joy:
A strength in partnership that I did not know alone.

*****

… Lost in a shadowy portal between two lights;
A place where bladed pain runs throughout all delights.
My soul is lost in the blissful, melancholy moment,
Wanting no fulfilment - just an everlasting instant …

*****

The Sun is sinking slowly over all our ruin
Casting one last sun-drenched shadow over all;
Lingering most pleasantly on all that we have loved.
A final embrace by day before darkness drowns the world.

So long, for twilight divides even old friends
Each to find his way in grey solitude.
Individuality was ever our curse
(Or perhaps a blessing for the more introverted child).

Now I watch you depart, hunched into the background;
The Sun gleams from behind your head
Casting you in shadow - a stranger to me once more.
Yet there is no aching emptiness left to fill.
Perhaps you never meant the World and more,
Perhaps I am just too old and cynical,
Or perhaps I just cannot face this finale.

Separation never seemed so sharp,
Despite the pain yet to birth.
Still I feel your absence;
A void or a numbness, palpable but intangible.
This must be how it ends;
Not a curtain call, more a polite wave farewell.

****

Look deep inside yourself –
Past insipid niceness and strawberry civility;
To the blood dark murk within
And what lives in this dark …
Those parts with which you cannot live;
Not knowingly/consciously –
That instead slumber doglike
One eye cocked in wary anticipation.

Impolite to refer to such things,
Base thoughts that scuttle crablike
In the submarine recesses of your mind.
Do you move, unbidden, to their urgings;
Secretly delighting in the illicit motives
That govern your celestial voyage.
Or else, force such crude imaginings
Back into the dark from whence they came.

Genuine bemusement, rattled questions always seeking
The unknowable, awful truth – Damning in itself;
Not a liberator; its manacles are sized to fit.
Delusions will set us free someday,
Let us see it all as just another stage.
One in which we play with no qualms,
All others, mannequins to our rage
To deal with as we see fit.

Please feel free to comment (even to say that all are crap...)

Keeping in theme..
something from a while back.

--------------------------------------------
Lying on a cushion of softest grass,
Blue sky overhead,
I lie arms and legs spread,
Gazing into infinity,
With my eyes glazed over,
With the mists of these thoughts.
A lone tear trickles through that barbed screen,
Escaping the confines of this walled up mind,
Down a pallid white cheek,
To softly fall upon a blade of grass.
It needs water to survive,
The ground eagerly laps up my tear,
And begs for more.
I cannot refuse,
I never could,
And spring wells up,
And the lone drop becomes a stream.
Faster it flows,
The dam destroyed,
They flow from these two reddening wounds,
And the ground drinks it all.
Soon it has had its fill,
Life blossoms all around me,
Plants twine around my arms,
Hugging me in thanks,
Celebrating what i have done,
But i am not finished.
"Stop, we have had enough" you cry,
But i am no longer thinking about you,
These eyes dont see anything anymore,
As they stare up into the looming clouds above,
The storm is brewing,
And the sky growls with bestial anticipation.
That roar makes the ground tremble,
But only now do you realise what you hold onto,
You try to squirm free,
But you can't,
And then the heavens open.
Puddles start to form around me,
You are screaming now,
Sheer terror as you realise what is happening,
You screams barely register,
As i am flung about in my mind.
Shrieking in my ear,
You beg for this to stop,
And these thoughts finally register,
I try to turn my head to look at you,
Through bloodshot eyes,
But i can't move.
Stakes of my own creation,
Whittled with my own blade,
Serpents of these emotions,
Pin me in the ground.
There are no more tears to shed,
Yet so much more to give,
So i give what i can,
As the blood pours from these eyes.
You are drowning now,
Whithering and dying,
In the flow of my life,
The ground turns to crimson mud,
And the rain never ends.
I'm all alone here,
With these serpentine friends,
Gazing unblinking at the fury above,
As i sink slowly into the mud,
As it closes around my eyes,
My ears, My nose,
My mouth,
Shutting off that silent scream,
I welcome her slippery embrace,
And that shelter from the storm above.

Just realised i think i have only written a couple of happy pieces of poetry ever. anyone got something happy to cheer me up? please Posted Image

Ditto. Add to that the fact i'm not online as much as i used to be means that i normally only have time to read and enjy rather than comment. I'll try to comment more.. like now! Posted Image
Was BORED at work so picked up a pen and wrote the following on a tiny scrap of paper. Normally like to write longer pieces but for some reason i couldn't seem to get any further than this.. and so this is the whole thing. oh, and no title.

Imaginary consorts discuss disturbingly real dreams,
A frantic debate on the fate of the world.
The blurry road before them remains fustratingly translucent,
Hidden behind a shimmering veil of acidic dew.

that's it *L* it was a TINY piece of paper Posted Image

Afraid that i will crack,
Unwilling to look back,
Into the deepest darkest chasm of my soul,
Who knows what lurks within that hole.."

*L* the rest i cant send, but as u can tell, i was happy that day Posted Image

Another new one

Set Free

Bereft
alas
torn apart
my soul is parted from my bleeding heart

Set free
my life
cut away
my strength drips slowly from the gaping hole

My eyes
grow dim
drowned in gloom
surrendered to this dark and stygian night

My hands
are numb
senses reel
now useless tools that can no longer feel

My past
is gone
cast aside
as darkness draws across it’s velvet veil

My husk
falls down
forgotten
to wither lifeless on the grasping earth

My soul
soars free
dancing on
past the silent stars in uncontained glee

Yeah Baverel - let's see some more

Soul - why edit - it takes all the fun out of stuff... I used to do the automatic writing thing... then save w/out editing, thinking I should try to edit more often myself!

I'll keep going - here's something with a Malazan flavour:

Mappo’s Lament

Your path has crossed a thousand lands,
a trail of dust and tears
of devastation by your hand,
across so many years.
An anger that the gods would fear,
a fire that scours the earth,
behind the smile of innocence
and heart of such great worth.
Maker of time by time betrayed
Your mind a prison cell
A thousand memories mislaid
and only I can tell.
Forever searching for your past
and answers hidden deep,
and all the while my tongue is fast,
your secrets I will keep.
And when your blazing rage has burned
before my anguished stare,
the burden of my guilt has turned
my heart towards despair
For I was set to guide your hand
and keep you clear from all,
and if I can, to save the land
I am to see you fall.
Despite the task that I was set,
Icarium my friend,
I know that with my blood and sweat
your life I will defend.
So do not weep if I should fall
and leave you here alone
I go to join a thousand more
whose blood you shed unknown.
For if I should fail at the last
and you then prove my bane,
my heart will hold our friendship fast
as my eternal gain.

The world lies dry around me,
Scortched from the last blazing inferno,
The latest to threaten my world.
Charred wood crackled under my cold boot,
This world is silent,
No birds sing,
No animals call,
There is nothing left here but me.
Ashes and dust are all that is left,
Of a once beautiful world,
Ashes and dust and the corpses of the trees.
They always attempt to grow back,
To begin making this world back to what it was,
A lush haven for the lost and wandering.
Yet the scars run deep,
This world will never be the same again,
Yet still they try
and i begin to cry,
As i pull the lighter from my pocket,
And prepare to start this inferno once more.
Because right now i dont want them to regrow,
Cos then ill never have to see them die,
Never have to watch those tall proud trees collapse,
Into the dust with a terrifying scream,
The screams that haunt me in my dreams.
As the flames light once more,
I watch behind these eyes,
Their screams dont reach me,
For they are mine anyway
And in me they shall remain,
Locked up tight within my dreams.
Forever trapped here with me.

------------------------
Slit my throat.. and watch me bleed. watch me die and smile for me.

I've never been a big fan of poetry. I've written some fairly decent stuff when I have to but I never really enjoy writing it.

What's my knack? - writing dismal depressing poetry like everyone else here! Just to cheer you up here's a couple of jolly ones.

Distant Shores

I have a dream of distant shores
with sun-kissed beaches, sea azure.
Palm tree fronds are softly flapping,
lazy waves so gently lapping.
Hazy sunshine, soft balmy breeze.
Time to take life slow as you please.
Golden sunsets on summer nights,
rainbow flicker of party lights.
Sparkling taste of fruits exotic,
sultry rhythms, drums erotic.
Laughing voices, knowing glances,
couples locked in steamy dances.
Sun-browned limbs and smouldering eyes,
squeeze of hand and caress of thighs.
Desires fulfilled in the dark night,
limbs entwined under the moonlight.
Passion spent, asleep on the sand,
watching the sunrise, hand in hand

My Lady's Eyes

The light of life that dances in
the coruscating flame within
my lady's eyes, of softest blue,
enchants them with a mystic hue
that gathers up my willing soul,
enraptured past all self control,
to cleave to her in loving bliss,
empowered by a single kiss.

So what if there is no rhyme I've read a great deal of poetry that does not rhyme.

Some of the verses are quite inspiring, others I don't care for but each to his own.

I'm no good at poetry have only ever written two pieces and they are poor to say the least. My brother on the other hand writes it all the time and has so far managed to get twenty pieces published(don't know how he does it).

Oh dear now I'm rambling better just shut up at this point.

Stupid I may be but you're following me.

What can I say?
Soul - that is all good writing - not a fan of rhyme myself but they seemed to work pretty well... very emotive!

Umm, think I might just keep reading this, not posting anymore stuff! You are all too impressive!

God damn. *L* i cant stop my fingers from typing. i always write lots when i am in a weird and unstable frame of mind. hell if this continues tonight i might even write some of my story *shock horror* Posted Image
So another one.

I’ve killed a million stars,
Pulled them down to die,
Yanked upon their sequined collars,
Stole them from the sky.

I’ve murdered a thousand angels,
Stabbed them in the back,
Heard their screams and watched them writhe,
As their halos burned to black.

I corrupted a hundred youths,
Taught them how to drink,
Made then drunken louts,
And pushed them to the brink.

I took ten dreams from sleeping babes,
And changed them all to stone,
I’ve heard their screams ring in the night,
A fear that cuts through bone.

But there was one- A god I knew,
Who never would give in,
Who saw my reluctant genocide,
And then looked at me to grin.

For I have killed,
Murdered, raped and plundered,
But I’ll always thank the Gods,
If that heart I’ll never sunder.

oh and thanks Bav Posted Image

hmmm...this is a bit of crappy, unfinished, "Fisher Kel Tath" (from SE) based poetry... Y'know the kind, it makes absolutely no sense at all, but still sounds pretty cool... Err, anyway, here it is...

Prelude

Those tatters of the past
That hang still in the air
Like the last notes of a horn
Blown by a titan of remorse.
An empty dirge
Sounding
Resounding
Through the empty folds
Of stone
That lie waiting
To devour.
A final song
A last stand
For those that wait
Wait
Wait
Eternal
in the midst
Of a second.

Verse 1

Thunder
Roars loud,
Howls the eternal scream
Of rage
That marks the end
Of every Empire

------------------
A dirge of the lost.
