Well the point concerning Tavore's uninspiring leadership was raised in this thread and hence it would hardly make sense to post my agreement anywhere else, Abyss Posted Image
Puck: You're right to nitpick - that is afterall the unavoidable essence of discussions featuring motivations of non-existent personalities in fictional universes Posted Image Just to be clear i didn't mean to say that the BH were a part of 9½ books. I meant erh .. Well i shouldn't write that here given that the thread starter hasn't read all the books.

You pointed out that you were commenting on events that take place after TB.

Figuratively.

Also rhetorically, emotionally and astrally.

So anyways, about the army's willingness to follow Tavore, it isn't really challenged until the very end of TB (spoiler bcs the OP wasn't there yet)
Spoiler
.

At YGhatan she's in command and no one is doubting it. Raraku had been a mess but they hadn't really suffered a loss, so at that point there really isn't a reason for serious dissension in the ranks.

Once Yghatan is done, the Red Blades commander becomes duly resentful, tho other forces are at work to a degree. And Blistig isn't exactly a peach.

You already have one, it's the 'Dear Abyss' thread over in the AA subforum.

Who dares speak negatively about one of my favorite characters?

Sorry to usurp an old thread but I've a question in line with the OP. Why did The Perish swear loyalty to Tavore?

IIRC they were following a prophecy.

I remember some vague reference to a prophecy but I don't know if the prophecy was ever stated. It seemed a little too convenient. The book's already long. Maybe Erikson didn't want to spend time having Tavore earn the loyalty of The Perish.

Well there are later books where motives get fleshed out. But as of TBH, that's the reason that has to suffice, I think.

My problem is by the time they flesh out these motives, I've already forgotten all about them. Like the one in Memories of Ice with the T'Lan Imass that talks about another war. The only reason I remember it now (I forgot it the first time I read Memories of Ice and most likely would've forgotten about it again) is because I stumbled upon a post in this forum stating this is addressed in another book that isn't even part of Erikson's series.
