Ok so at the end of GotM Paran give's away Chance (his sword that was blessed by oponn or something like that) and picks up Adjunct Lorn's sword which is Otaratl (sorry if I'm spelling some these names wrong). Now in MOI I assume he did not just throw his sword away, but as far as I saw there was no mention of it. Presumably it would have come in handy towards the end when he fights the Condor and then is on the roof running from Condors as well as with the seer. My only theory for why he did not have the sword is because Quick Ben and the other wizards would not be able to tolerate it's presence. Can someone please tell me if I've missed something or did Erikson really just leave this out? Thanks ;)

Officially, the word is that SE simply forgot about it. The longer answer is that SE was originally writing MOI as the second book, lost it in a computer accident (after like finishing half of it or so), and then decided to do DG next. When he came back to MOI, it's just one of the things that got forgotten about. But there are plausible in-world reasons, as you note, and it's not forgotten about for the whole series...so it eventually makes its return with some explanatory context.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Justification: Paran is with Quick Ben and other Bridgeburner mages for a lot of the book. Him having the sword around would be more of an inconvenience than anything.
uhm, that should be 'stuff.' My stiff is never nihilistic.

Near the end of GoTM, when he felt his luck had turned just before leaving Darujhistan he gave his sword to Cotillion. He took Adjunct Lorn's sword from her after she died.
