I just picked up a copy of the Nightshade Books hardcover of Blood Follows. I was taken aback at the first paragraph:

Quote

The bells peeled across the Lamentable City of Moll, clamouring along the crooked, narrow alleys, and buffeting the dawn-risers hurriedly laying out their wares and the market rounds. The bells peeled, tumbling over the grimy cobblestones, down to the wharfs and out over the bay's choppy, grey waves. Shrill iron, the bells peeled with the voice of hysteria.

Definition of peel
Definition of peal

Is there a metaphor I'm missing here that makes sense? Or is this just an egregiously visible copy editing error? If the latter, glad I only paid $8 for the book!

Egregious, sir, egregious!
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I confess I'm enough of a pedant that I had to wait til the next day to start reading the book, but enjoying it so far. It's making a nice light break from Reaper's Gale.

Luckily the combined version has corrected the typos. Now if only there were some way to correct the PS Publishing and the Nightshade editions.
"see that stranger's arm crushing the life from him - do you understand? Not an eternal prison for Messremb"
