They're great. It's Bauchelain and Korbal Broach and Emancipor Reese, and it all takes place in the Malazan world (though usually in places not visited by the big series' entries.) If you enjoy Erikson's stuff, you'll probably love these, too.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

They're fun reads. Just don't expect the epicness of the main boos though. But definitely worth reading.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Read them, it's worth it. Less epic than the main series, but totaly worth it. Blood Follows is probably the slowest of the first three, but Lees of Laughter's End is the funniest book I can remember reading.

Lees was a crapload of fun, with some cool ties to the bigger Malazan world. Crack'd Pot Trail was my favorite; brilliant book, but very different. It turned a lot of people off, which I totally understand, but I loved it.

And if you're in the mood for more tangentally-related-to-Malazan stories, make sure to check out SE's "Goats of Glory" in the Swords and Dark Magic anthology.

Yes, you should absolutely read them. To not do so seems to be to be deliberately inflicting awesomeness-deprivation upon yourself.
Laseen did nothing wrong.
