[Dream Theater]

Good god - I simultaneously LOVE these books (moreso than any series i've ever read) but continue to get mentally pwned by them. I really thought I was a smart guy until I read these. And yet another example of this is my recent reading about Fener.

I just got done with the scene where Heboric touched that jade finger, his tattoos got all intense, then a bit later Baudin (I think that's his name) - when realizing that he and Felisin were about done in the desert - looked for a picture of Fener's face on Heboric's body and touched one of Heboric's stumps to the picture. Then apparently an overwhelming noise/storm/whatever erupted, it was stated that many Ascendants would have noticed what had just happened which was Fener was pulled from his realm. Prior to my actual questions, if they are answered later in the series, please just let me know and i'll get there eventually.

So here be the questions:
1. Fener is the Boar of Summer, no? Is he uh...actually a boar then? Or is he somewhat like a Soletaken who can run around as a boar but is also a dude.
2. How/why was he ripped from his realm? How could just activating a tattoo cause that?
3. What was that jade finger that Heboric touched?

Also, some more quesitons just occurred to me re: Ascendants. So, in the Deck of Dragons there are Houses. One of which is House Shadow which Shadowthrone rules who is really the old Emperor. Prior to the Emperor's ascension, was there a House Shadow? This gels a little with my Fener question - at least where I am at now the guy seems to be alive if not weakened and/or vulnerable in the "mortal realm" for lack of better term. But say he gets knocked off. Does some other person out there automatically ascend? How and who decides who ascends? Are new Houses being made at a somewhat regular interval?

I kind of always pictured Fener as more of a Minotar-like Pig-Man-Boar-Thing... But that's just me...

And since I'm not giving anything away to you:

I personally think it was a Middle Finger. It would make sense. =)

But yes, RAFO - you'd hate someone for answering these questions when you got there to discover it all.

PS: SE decides who ascends and who doesn't... or ICE, depending on the book I suppose!
