I've been looking online and I can't find much about the kitten that Princess Rhaenys had. It was a black kitten called Balerion, and several people mention it including Job Connington and Barristan Selmy. Several other characters have mentioned that there is a black tom cat, a large, black one which has hung about the Red Keep for years. Is this supposed to be the same cat, and if it is, is it significant? Has anyone else noticed this?

Sorry I know this is bit of an anal question but it's been bothering me for months!

So you haven't read the Balerion novella featured in the fantasy short story compilation Cats, Crows, and Caterpillars edited by the esteemed speculative fiction short story compilation editor PBJ Supperton? Tsk tsk.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Har har, my question may be trivial, and indeed pointless, but is the debate of pointless trivia not what internet forums are for?

Good point, I agree. Well then, to answer your question, as far as I remember:
Spoiler

They came with white hands and left with red hands.

In all honesty though, I did notice it, and I do believe it's the same cat. And I've actually heard others make the same connection, so you ain't going crazy. In fact:

They came with white hands and left with red hands.
