You are Sheryl Cole, and since a Girls Aloud reunion is not on the boards, you have been recruited to be a judge in yet another talent hunt. The good news: there are people that can actually make music and they are THIS close to the finals! The bad news: they're outnumbered by the typical good-looking bad-singing twenty-somethings that the teenage kids love. In the past, you'd have cashed in on your fee and moved on, but this time, you have decided to let the best musicians win.

These guys are Spite & Ampelas. You are their symp.

Fener, on 17 July 2012 - 04:17 PM, said:

Fuck yeah, symp. Now, from what little I know of talent shows, setting would suggest multiple scum teams for each of the judges, but this seems unlikely in M&P (also there's no way we have multiple teams of three unless there's much higher TMDI stuff going on).

So, pretty standard symp is how I'm hoping to play it. First things first is to code in some roles so I can counter if necessary.

Will probably try and play reasonably low key day one, until I've got a grasp on how Spite and Amp are playing it. Don't want to stir the thread up only to discover they're playing loud and get into an argument. Ought to also try and signal a little, but safety first really, so hopefully won't get hit.

Fuck I love M&P.

Sadly I didn't really have much chance to signal. I didn't realise quite how much of day one I'd missed:

Fener, on 17 July 2012 - 04:20 PM, said:

The spam should make it nice and easy to signal. As long as it's still going anyhow, I'm only on page 3.

Fener, on 17 July 2012 - 04:25 PM, said:

Both Spite and Amp look like they're coasting low.

Anthras has spammed and has made posts insinuating that not posting is scummy. If I had more posts myself, and he hadn't voted me, I might be able to make something of that. Maybe I'll pad a bit, post some content, and then try it.

The worrying commences:

Fener, on 17 July 2012 - 05:11 PM, said:

Don't really see the need for that comment by Amp. Considered replying to signal but decided against it. Not quite sure how likely a target I am. I wasn't posting, so that improves my chances, but they might go for someone people won't have a read on, and now I've probably posted enough to fit that. Still, think I'd be a poor choice, since I'm likely to get heat for my inactivity (sorry by the way).

Either a Kaschan or Anthras lynch is OK atm. Anthras has stirred a lot up but seems overconfident in his case, and pushing stuff too heavily early on can just lead to the innos getting caught up and diverted by it, which I'll hopefully help along. Not sure which I'd prefer. Anthras could be beneficial to keep around. He was talking about Amp earlier, but I think Kaschan's CF would probably make him drop that.

As does the paranoia about hypothetical situations:

Fener, on 17 July 2012 - 05:21 PM, said:

Fuck I hope Amp doesn't post after a time out. Particularly not with something like "hey, I said earlier that I thought no lynch was fine". Him letting the day time out is a fine tactic (would still rather he voted, looks better, and he was on recently enough that he could be accused easily of lurking), but he doesn't want to look like he's lurking.

Fener, on 18 July 2012 - 02:43 AM, said:

Finder is coded into the first paragraph of my reply to sorrit. First letter of every third word of every sentence, moved down one letter alphabetically.

[Removed the quote itself cause it was massive]

Fener, on 18 July 2012 - 02:43 AM, said:

Just in case I needed to find it quickly. It's also complicated because people love complicated codes, that means I put effort in which means legitimacy, right?

Fener, on 18 July 2012 - 05:40 PM, said:

Right, after that Atrahal vote, I'm going to try and take a bit more of a back seat. Don't want to get hit by any backlash, or accusations of steering the thread, and one of Sil, Anth, or Atrahal should be lynched without further pushing, unless someone does something stupid or makes a good case. Could be glad later I switched to Kasch yesterday I think, since I could easily see myself being accused of being scum with him in some capacity at some point.

Bit worried that Amp is going to become a target after this whole situation unfolds. There's the no lynch thing (which actually wasn't that bad an idea, if he was inno, considering when he posted it a Kasch lynch wouldn't have gotten much info. Just a shame it's one of those suggestions that always draws heat), and the fact that he's been very beneath the radar, and hasn't really committed much on the Anth thing, even with his vote, and even though you'd expect him to as Anth keeps calling him scum. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but it feels like someone pointing out how low he's lying after the Anth thing is done and we're looking elsewhere, could put him in a tight spot. We'll see I guess.

Fener, on 18 July 2012 - 10:55 PM, said:

Nice, we've lynched the one who seems most likely symp.

Fener, on 19 July 2012 - 04:57 PM, said:

Silanah may be roled.

We haven't hit any roled town yet, so it could very well be a 2 killers and a bunch of RIs style game

This suggests he thinks roled town CF differently or something, which they might not.

Fener, on 19 July 2012 - 05:00 PM, said:

Oh, nice, Kaschan has pointed it out so I don't need to. Hopefully the killers pick up on it. Sil would be a decent choice. WIFOM of it probably wouldn't get Amp lynched (not that it's looking hopeful anyhow. I'm considering finder revealing on him if there's plausible reason, that way I can maybe clear Spite. Risky though), and he's playing reasonably well. No one really seems to have connected Spite to Amp which is definitely good - hopefully Spite distances rather than tries to defend him.

Thankfully I didn't reveal on Amp as it would've almost definitely been a catastrophe. Could've made for an interesting game though, particularly if Sil revealed too. "Well yeah, he's probably not a finder cause there's probably not two. He's totally right about Amp though".

I thought D'rek was much more likely to be lynched than actually turned out to be the case. It just seemed like a lot of people had been mentioning her as a possibility, and so there wouldn't be many objections to voting that way.

Fener, on 19 July 2012 - 05:01 PM, said:

Ampelas is attacking Karosis. People were connecting those two. Would've been nice to leave it that way in case he's lynched.

Fener, on 19 July 2012 - 05:04 PM, said:

Otoh, it's not a bad case, and since I've been attacking Atrahal, I've got a good excuse to vote on it.

Fener, on 20 July 2012 - 12:53 AM, said:

Hopefully my Karosis vote will give him the momentum to de-rail from Amp. Could look bad for me though, so I'll try and be early on an Ampelas train if one looks like it can't be avoided. If it doesn't de-rail today, I could well be fucked tomorrow. Hopefully Korv will vote with me. Personally, I would rather Silanah was lynched, but there seems more support for Karosis with Korv saying that he liked Amp and Karosis, and Korbas voting Karosis earlier. Think Kaschan might vote that way too. Ideally, Sil would switch. Hope this works.

Fener, on 20 July 2012 - 01:20 AM, said:

Fuck yes Kaschan. 4-1 has to be enough to get the Karosis lynch through, surely. And there's still possibly Korv who liked it, and Korbas who voted on it and might switch just to prove Kasch wrong.

Looking at the scum PMs, I think my parnoia was justified here.

Fener, on 20 July 2012 - 01:21 AM, said:

Also, I really hope they've figured out I'm their symp by now. I was throwing around some stuff about Amp earlier because distance is necessary, but hopefully they'll look past that. If not, they might kill me, which would definitely suck.

Think this refers to Karosis voting Korv:

Fener, on 20 July 2012 - 02:12 AM, said:

Come on Korv, OMGUS him, you know you want to.

Though not really sure why he's voting there, since with little time left his best hope is trying to keep at least one other train competitive and viable. Maybe he's resigned to the lynch and wants to get his suspicions out or something. Makes me happy regardless.

Surprised that I've not been connected with Kasch more strongly so far, we seem to end up agreeing a lot.

More worry:

Fener, on 20 July 2012 - 03:12 AM, said:

Btw, how far from modkill is Spite?

Fener, on 20 July 2012 - 03:40 AM, said:

Somehow had missed Korvs vote. Might've been able to get Silanah instead after all. Ah well.

Fener, on 20 July 2012 - 08:50 PM, said:

Hope there's not a vig. Deliberately left Spite out of my find list just in case this doesn't work, though it's WIFOM judging which way people look at stuff like that.

Think it should swing for scum though. Just poor timing on Sil's part. Though knowing how disconnected Amp and Spite are, it could've been best in this case to reveal straight away. Good play generally waiting for information, just shouldn't have left it as late as D-Day, because that looks bad since it's not testable.

Hehehe, and you're wasting no breath on other issues
It will certainly be interesting to see how this goes down.

Fener, on 20 July 2012 - 09:01 PM, said:

Yeah, I definitely don't want to let people lose sight of what is probably my main advantage. Having a code might be a small point in my favour too. Though it could back fire if people pile up too much on Sil and people then decide no one is defending him and so he might not have partners. One of many worries at the moment.

These are the best bits of games. So tense. Particularly since I know that it should be D-Day.

Fener, on 20 July 2012 - 10:00 PM, said:

Me and Amp have both voted Sil btw (Amp voted first, then me).

Cheers!

Fener, on 20 July 2012 - 11:29 PM, said:

Good question by Kasch, have been waiting for that one.

Saying who I found day one was a hard choice. Anthras was the obvious one, but I worried people would find it strange that I'd went for him day two, which I think they would have. Didn't want to say Amp or Spite, and didn't want to claim someone dead because it would seem too convenient. Similarly with saying I found a low poster, I don't think people would buy a random choice.

Hope my explanation works for him, because if he votes Silanah, we'll have both of the town votes we need. And I think he's probably the one most inclined to vote that way, since we've agreed a lot this game, whereas Atrahal and me argued (though me saying I found him inno may help, and he didn't seem very sure earlier), and I don't have much read on Sorrit.

Fener, on 20 July 2012 - 11:35 PM, said:

I'm so anxious.

Come on team scum!

Though it'd be nice if Spite managed to avoid the train just in case of a vig. Similarly, I hope he doesn't just drop the hammer without saying anything like people sometimes do.

Fener, on 20 July 2012 - 11:36 PM, said:

Thank you spite with the lurking hammer. And explained too. No vigs, no vigs no vigs...

Damn, haven't been this excited playing in a while. Scum is just so fun.

There we go.

Oh god, I could so easily have been NK'd

What is it about the symp role that draws the masters to kill them so often?

I'm going to try and post up my PM's for anyone curious.

Yeah, I almost killed you a bunch of times. :( Whoops.

Yeah, there's no way I'd notice a code that odd in one of my posts accidentally.

Double rep for this, it really saved our asses. Great example of how to play a symp well.

Yeah, that's how I play, and it usually BACKFIRES. He's picking up some of my bad habits. I approve!

He doesn't really think Grief actually wrote that post and input any code on purpose does he?

You can use the same code grief is using to write 'scum just owned your face' and you can make the bible say 'Satan rules'

That is why I don't bother to code. It is also the best way to call someone out who uses a code. Works if your scum or if your town. Proves that the code can easily be bullshit. Remember to do that next time someone codes something. OH yellow where have you gone...
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.
