This is not my work, but one I saw on DeviantArt website. I thought it looked intriguing and eerily like how I imagined (to a certain extent) how a Tiste Andii would look. I believe the artist is Geoffrey Jones, as is credited in the image itself.

Im inclined to say yes to some extent. The Tiste Andii aren't all whitehaired but i think in the case of anomander and his progeny this is pretty close.

Its been mentioned before though that the features are more alien. Sharper cheeks and a face more elongated. Try thinking in "ovals" and less in "circles".

To me it just looks like a human with jet black skin and silver hair and lips...

IMO Tiste Andi are almost alien looking, in my head they look a lot like the elves from Elder Scrolls/Skyrim but with the black skin and silver hair...

Anomander Rake is the only Andii with Silver hair. Andii are naturally all black, everything except their eyes are pitch black.

We know that at least some of Anomanders kids have silver hair as well, Nimander for example.

Really? Considering Erikson called giving Rake white hair a mistake, I am surprised he passed the trait on to the offspring. Of course, Nimander is a halfbreed, his mother being Envy I think, so things could be different with him. But the pureblood Andii are generally speaking supposed to be a uniform black from head to toe. Don't know about nails and teeth though.

It's in Reaper Gale page 569 in the TOR mmpb.

Wrong.

If it's one thing I hate, it's people stating things as fact when they are in fact, wrong. Before you state something as fact, you must do the research.

A simple check of the wiki (the publicly-accessible one) brings up this: "Tiste Andii hair was either silver-white or midnight black." - DG, UK MMPB, p.335

And this, referring to Sandalath: 'A woman, tall as an Edur but midnight-skinned, a reddish glint to her long, unbound hair. Green eyes, tilted and large, a face softer and rounder than Seren would have expected given her height and long limbs. She was wearing a leather harness and leggings, and on her shoulders rode the skin of some white-furred beast.' - (MT TB, p. 454)

Apt, I have no doubt of the value of your contribution to this forum, but do not speak in absolute terms of what you do not know. Please and thank you.

This is bizarre. I am positive I remember a discussion just like this one were it was concluded that Andii all have black hair. Kulps memory I guess could be challenged but if Sandalath is observed directly as having reddish hair, I guess they are not all equally black.

Maybe the conclusion was extracted from Eriksons quote about Rake having white hair being a bad idea.

Anyway, my bad.

Well, not red hair so much as black hair with a glint of red. Which actually is a hair color I've seen IRL.

There is also another Tiste in Midnight Tides (Korlat's mother I think? The one that was "rescued" by The Crippled God when Seren and Iron Bars dropped the ring in the Sea.. (I may have the names spelled wrong, I've been listening to Audio, not reading, while at work.)

Regardless, she was given HER body back, and once on the shore, Withal (sp) the Meckros Smith described her as having red hair... Not red tinted, simply red...

I'll tab through my Kindle later to be sure of the reference and names.

------- Edit:

I got into the car and... Behold, I am a moron!

Apparently I WAS talking about Sandalath, but had no recollection of her name. Apologies for that. Though it is still true that her hair was (at that point) called "red"... Just wanted to correct myself!

From MT, description of some woman (Sandalath, iirc) Seren talks to inside the stonewall, it's also about the shape of her face:

Quote

A woman, tall as an Edur but midnight-skinned, a reddish glint to her long, unbound hair. Green eyes, tilted and large, a face softer and rounder than Seren would have expected given her height and long limbs. She was wearing a leather harness and leggings, and on her shoulders rode the skin of some white-furred beast. She was unarmed.
