The first word has just come in on Brandon Sanderson's Legion, and we couldn't be more pleased.

Here's an extensive cutting from Pat's Fantasy Hotlist:

"The novella format keeps the pace moving, and all too quickly we reach the end, hoping for more. There is a lot more depth than meets the eye, and I have a feeling that Legion is a brief introduction to what should be an interesting and entertaining series. I also like the fact that Sanderson was ambitious, even if with a novella he couldn't work with the sort of scope he is used to... Here's to hoping that we'll have the opportunity to discover more about Stephen Leeds and his hallucinations in the near future, and that those new adventures will also be in the form of short stories or novellas. I feel that writing short fiction forces Brandon Sanderson to write with a much tighter focus, which makes for a more satisfying reading experience... Legion should please Sanderson's legions (sorry, couldn't resist!) of fans and gain him some new followers. God knows I'm looking forward to what comes next!"

Killer 7 the novella? Could be interesting.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

He's also beginning a new YA series: Steelheart

Seriously. The guy is a writing machine. He writes like 2 or 3 books a year. He teaches at a University and he is a family man. He puts Erikson and Butcher to shame.

He also travels around the world going to conventions and plays Magic the Gathering. I reckon he's got a time bubble somewhere as his office.
