Hi,

I have a question regarding Karsa Orlong's encounters with Soletakens:

"I have killed Soletaken - this fur on my shoulders is proof enough of that, if you doubt me."

Which Soletaken did Karsa kill and when, can't remember...

I honestly can't remember if this occurs in DG or HOC, it's most likely HOC. It was one of the bear soletaken on the Path of Hands. Can't recall if it was one of Icarium and Mappo's buddies or if it was an unnammed soletaken.

I believe it was Messremb.

Messremb was Mappo and Icarium's friend, right? If so, it wasn't him - he got devoured by the Azath when the Hounds of Shadow turned on him. Anyway, the Soletaken was killed in Deadhouse Gates. I believe Karsa finds its tracks and goes to kill it, with Heboric laughing at him proclaiming he's going to die when facing the Soletaken.

It occurs after Felisin and Heboric join Leoman and Karsa, while they are on their way to Raraku. The Soletaken Karsa kills is a white-furred bear, while Messremb is brown (and like Defiance said, gets Azath'd in Tremorlor later).

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Right you are, both D'Rek & Aptorius, thank you

Shortly before Icarium and Karsa jump on each other (during Karsa'a travel from Raraku to Jhag Odhan), Mappo says it was indeed one of their friends but his or her name was never revealed I believe...

BTW: The Crippled God* has just hit the polish bookstores (Poland - that's where I live :p) and I realized I have no idea whatsoever what the previous books were all about  So, I'm re-reading right now and I'm having tons of questions...

*) just the "first" part of it :/ Polish editions suck :D

Yah it must be hard understanding the whole story just from picture books.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Au contraire, if I'm not mistaken Mappo says that he recognizes the bear fur but that it was *not* a friend of his/Icarium's (whereas Messremb was a friend).

Indeed, polar bear man was a total a-hole probably.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
