Way Of Kings - Shardbearers (Spoilers)

So we were talking in Chat, and I just realized.

Are Shardbearers (Both Plate and Blade) just Space Marines from 40k? I mean... think of the similarities.

While wearing their plate they are nearly invulnerable to 'normal' troops, and can blow through huge groups of them. Only other 'Shardbearers' stand as a real threat against them. They can be regenerated after battle, they are highly sought after...

Just something I thought amusing.

Do other people think the similarities are enough to say Sanderson is paying homage to the Black Library, or am I just seeing things that aren't there?
