You are, perhaps, just a bit late....see here. :p But understandable as it didn't have its own thread.

Hrm, seeing as TESO doesn't really fall into the actual TES series, though, we could leave it with its own thread. :p

Here's a folder with scans of a leaked article in game informer.

It looks thoroughly underwhelming. I was expecting something new from them. Not just World of Warcraft in Tamriel.

If Borderlands can have first person shooting with out server lag why can't we have a Skyrim style MMO? I do not get it.

Well, to be fair, unlike WoW it's supposed to focus on PvP. they've got people who made Dark age of Camelot working on this.

It's also not a Bethesda game--Zenimax has brought in another dev team to do it.

Because clearly, the world needs more MMOs

Not a fan. I've been against any sort of multiplayer/online in the Elder Scrolls world for a long time. I guess there are enough people that want it, though.

Personally, I wouldn't want Skyrim combat in an MMO. I'd be bored within a few days. The Skyrim combat was fun at first, but it quickly got old. In reality, it's not anything more than a polished version of Oblivion's combat.

I'm glad it's being developed by a different team. While I still believe Morrowind is vastly superior to Skyrim (which is in turn much better than Oblivion), I'm looking forward to whatever DLC Bethesda ends up releasing.

Who also did Warhammer Online, iirc? Meh.
Anyhow, won't play it.

When I first saw the title I thought it would be essentially skyrim with a MP option. As apt put it, it's just WoW in tamriel. BORING.

I've often thought the one thing missing from Oblivion and Skyrim is MP, but only mp on a local level. It doesn't need MMO gameplay to be awesome, but the ability to at least co-op (or co-op online) would be a significant step forward.

Too bad you'd need two graphics cards to run such a thing....but maybe not so out of reach in the future.

I am very disappointed in this. With games like Tera, Guild Wars 2, and The Old Republic all adding at least one new element to the MMO genre, I thought TESO would also have something innovative about it. But nope. Looks boring.

This, I could get behind. I wouldn't object to the ability to co-op my Skyrim. That would in fact be quite cool, just for the fun of being able to play with friends. An MMO, however...not really interested.

When I first saw the teaser last night, I was intrigued. It gave off a skyrim like vibe. I was hoping for a real time mmo, with graphics similar to Skyrim's, and many of the features associated with the Scrolls.

I've got nothing against toony graphics, but they just don't fit the elder scrolls. Same goes with Malazan ,if a game is ever made. They should allow players to switch between first and third person views. Darkfall and Mortal online are the games I have in mind, but obviously with a lot more polish.

No vampirism, lycantrophy ;)

So far the only thing I'm liking is that it's set across Tamriel, but even here they are cutting certain areas.

I'm excited to try it, but, like some people on the forums, I really like my elder scrolls to be a single player experience. I was a bit drunk when i posted this which may have resulted in my initial excitement.

Well its still far too early to write the game off, but feedback has mostly been negative thus far. My gripe isn't that its an mmo per say (although I do prefer a single player rpg for the level of interactivity) but that it appears to be modelled after most standard mmo's on the market. I was hoping (and still hope) for a game where I could steal anything, jack horses from other players, fight in real time...

Only time will tell, here's hoping for the best.

Good! Your original enthusiasm was wrong, and you should feel bad.

My main gripe with a Skyrim MMO is that it will siphon funds from projects that are actually worth something.

GI Interview. Not impressed. Sounds like the creative director is trying to talk up to what the fans want rather than what he's actually creating.

And moreover, still not seeing how this is going to translate well to an MMO. I'm just not sold on it AT ALL. And as far as the broad sweeping generalizations about "what Elder Scrolls is" - more on the part of the interviewer, granted - it's been slowing morphing into more and more of an action game than an RPG experience anyway, so they can get away with talking about how this will be a lot like TES games without actually locking themselves into anything. *sigh*

Why do these stuidoes insist on going the MMO route anyways? What's the percentage of MMOs that actually produce a profit you think?

Eh, it's a risk/reward factor. If you become the next WoW (like WoW became the next Everquest) you are absolutely rolling in cash. And I don't think very many MMO's flop so badly that they would bankrupt something like Zenimax, who have a reasonably certain fan-base to draw a minimum level of players from. They KNOW this will do at least OK, in other words. *shrug* (Or so they think...I'm not convinced, but I'm a hardcore fan of the games as single player experiences, and view them fighting a losing battle if they think their precious console market will all spontaneously become PC-based MMO customers...)

I'm all for well implemented optional multiplayer in more games. In fact there are very few games I think wouldn't be better off with that.
I've always been up for allowing another player into a TES game. I was sad that a friend couldn't fill in the place of the mandatory squadmates in Mass Effect games. Too many games force you to play with other characters but don't let someone fill those shoes.

And I'm still not too keen on what I've heard or seen about this. I heard it was a thing and was holding off and hoping it was going to be awesome, but like Silencer, I came away from seeing that interview less happy than I went into it.
I am still going to try and be optimistic, but I'm not pleased so far.

PS - Before I get ranted at about my suggestions:
ME games - You have to take two NPCs with you anyway, I always thought there was no reason they shouldn't be able to be player controlled. They wouldn't be making decisions or anything, it would very much be the 1st players game, they'd just be along for the ride. Especially as someone who has no interest in replaying the game this would be an ideal way to experience the variations possible in it.
TES - I would have wanted a set-up like Sacred 2, or Terreria. Where if you want, two people can make characters in a new game together, or you can bring a character across, and you don't both need to be there to play. Most likely someone would "own" the world save. This would allow people to guest in a friend's world if they wanted.
You'll note a key point for both is that it's optional, and preferably there'd be no achievements that require you play multiplayer (and both parties should get achievement progression while playing together in the TES set-up).
"So how'd you save the world?"

But wait! It slowly gets worse!

Confirmed it has lock-on combat and a hotbar. Only six skills. "Parts" of all the other provinces open to play in...I'm thinking tiny areas, but hey, I could be wrong. This is starting to sound so generic - and even the areas in which they're "innovating" or "changing" the basic setup...sounds more like they're just taking all the bad parts you expect of typical TES sequels!

GI Article.
