FINAL WARNING. NO MORE TALKING ABOUT SAID PREVIOUS WARNING. MOD HAMMER LOOMING

Uhm, P-S?

Let's assume there is a slip, right?

If someone found the slip (if any, or intentional post), it is there to be found and used for the thread. After all, we might even quote it by accident in a case on a completely unrelated issue without it being The Slip ™.
If you don't want us to find it, edit said post.
If you don't want us to find a post made by a player and edited by you, incriminating said player, delete it.
If the post has been quoted a gazillion times already, well, so much the pity.... might break your game, but at the least allow the rest of us to hunt and search for it.
If need be, modkill anyone who made said slip to even the playing field - if scum, they should have signalled better. If town, well, should have known better than trying the age old trick - killing of a person CIed that way is only fair compensation.

But right now, if there is a slip on thread, then we're being asked to put a blind eye towards something most of us don't have an idea of what it is, and the players who made said slip still broadcasted their signal and it might have been picked up, too. Essentially, we can throw at the least a page or so of day 1 discussion away.

Let's assume there isn't a slip, right? You then put a message on thread (threatening a modkill several times) that is still being used by players to go all "ahum, ahum I know the big secret but my lips are sealed, hahahahaha, please don't lynch me" and in part their suggestion is repeatedly reinforced by your size 7 caps. What's a player to think?

Now, I'm sorry for dissenting on thread and will accept a modkill for it, and I'm equally sorry if I just enlargened the pickle you find yourself in, but this mess needs sorting out and I fear enforcing silence won't do. For all I care, maybe you might even want to reshuffle the roles and restart the game - it is still day 1, after all.

*cough*playingwithfire*cough*

I know. As I said, I know I probably invited a modkill. That's OK with me, really. Right now, the thing we're not allowed to search for, much less mention, is going to play a role in this game, regardless of whether or not it appears on thread or even exists. I'll acknowledge that this ought to have been a PM, though.

From what I understand, admittedly little, seeing as I'm on the outside here, this has nothing to do with game design but someone doing something they shouldn't have done, no? Not sure blaming twelve is warranted.

That's a bit harsh, even if you're being partly ironic and joking. Every mod messes up, at least once per game, just like players do. Fact of life. The more complicated the game/ the less time the mod has, the more chance for it to happen.

I have had the same issue once or twice, and have seen it in games i played in. Usually, a speedy modkill is the right answer, but if it happens when mods are not online or they don't spot it at first (when modding, I usually skim the thread, nothing more), then there is little that can be done to rectify it.

I feel quite sorry for both Twelve and Venge - this kind of thing is horrible when it happens to your game. It still needs adressing, though.

This is mafia. players will unscrupulously reach for any advantage they can get, regardless of whether or not mods wanted it to be used.
I'm not blaming the players either, but it's a a fact a new mod such as Twelve wouldn't necessarily be familiar with. Modding games can be a lot of fun, but it can also be a trying experience. there's a reason we usually suggest people co-mod at least several games before trying to run their own--it lets them become familiar with some of the most common pitfalls of modding, while watching others deal with them.

I can already sense that this is discussion that will run and run in SH....

As I probably have the least idea about what's going on, I'll stay out of it - but playing the blame game seems somewhat unecessary to me.

I'd replace unscrupulously with unconsciously, though.
I have seen oldies and newbies fall for it, and seldom is the intention bad, it is usually eagerness + nerves + a little bit of forgetfulness + a window of opportunity.
For the mod-side of the conondrum, that doesn't change things. I'm not blaming Twelve or Vengeance at all, nor do I think they broke their own game. Far from it.
The issue I see is that I do think the current situation needs a different solution than the one we have right now as it will still play a part in the game.

I'm out, too.

ugh

What are your thoughts on it?

poor form.

Scum wouldn't play the card early on, would prolly wait till like L-3/2

leaves me thinking noob roled inno.

Blow me.

I did what was neccesary to insure my survival for at least the day. I'll be healed, so we may even save a death if Fener decides to test it. There is NO DOUBT that I would have been the lynch target today. Look at how fast people are piling onto Silanah. There were many people who decided I was good, but had yet to lay their vote.

I've explained my reasoning, and it's perfectly valid. If you're going to be a massive fuck-hole, so be it. But at least do it with some moderate amount of intelligence. Would you prefer I had been lynched? Gone down without a fight? Would you have prefered that I wait until "L-3/2"? Would you have prefered that I leave town in a situation where they either lynch me, despite my reveal, or don't get a lynch for today?

Fuck you. Get your head out of your ass and think things through.

I'm back and catching up.

Watchout, Anthras will say you're having a cry!

Anyway, if you're really roled, I don't care to die instead of you. If you're lying, then the masters of mafia will have your soul!!!

Well, that's a shitty situation to be in.

Anyway. I'm here and ready to vote as needed. It sure looks like Silanah is going to go down, which makes a bit of sense I suppose. I just hope he comes up inno, for my own sake. It certainly seems he will, from his reactions.

You can bet I will, chief. I hope Sorritt gets some inspection out of the deal.

It is true that things start to build fast, a few on thread thought you were a good target and Sorrit's case didn't seem totally baseless, it was at least well thought out as far as day 1 signalling cases go so I can see the predicament you are in.

I think the Silanah is going to come back as inno, I feel really reluctant to vote because as well as initially seeing the link more to you than her, her reactions and the case she made on HP which seemed just as well thought out as Sorrit's case just don't strike me as scum plays. There is not much that can be done at this point though, we need a lynch and if Silanah comes back as inno (as shit as that would be) it might lend some confidence towards your claims.

@OE even if Sil will likely come back inno, there's still a chance of scum and also we get to learn what the CF is like, if any.

Yeah, I understand the necessity of it and honestly apart from yesterdays suspicions of Eloth and going back on forth on HP I've nothing concrete to offer instead as more likely. As you say, we need to get an idea of what kind of CF we are working with and maybe Sorrit hit on it and my feeling is totally wrong, and if so we've got a possible connection to follow up on.
