Really interesting, I didn't make that tie. Could you pull up some quotes? I thought Circle Breaker was supposed to be going to Dhavran or somewhere like that at the end of Gardens of the Moon.

I know he set off to leave, but we don't know what happened to him and I couldn't think of any other retired Daru guardsman conspiring against the Tyrant.

It could very well just have been a nobody. The focus of the scene was Jan and his internal struggle with how the Seguleh are being used by the Tyrant.

Of course, but it would have been a nice touch.

Kruppe rewarded Circle Breaker in GotM with a trip out of Daru, away from any dangerous recriminations and into retirement somewhere else, irrc. Doesn't he get on a boat at the end?

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Yes he leaves on the same boat as Crokus Kalam etc. Its possible though that he was brought by Kruppe with the emphasis being on the breaking the circle of the Tyrant dying then returning. It kinda fits a trusted agent of Kruppes would be brought out of retirement and the retired guard fits aswell

On the other hand, it seems selfish of Kruppe to put Circle Breaker into the mix again. He was rewarded at the end of Gardens of the Moon with retirement - why would Kruppe ruin his life by bringing him back? Doesn't seem like something our little rotund friend would do.

I would assume a new Circle Breaker was recruited by The Eel.

What if he missed the life? Retirement sucks for cops.

Yes he seems a troubled soul and its possible Kruppe re recruited his most prominent agent out of retirement. I think its eminently plausible

Tiam got it i think, and the Circle-Breaker link is that when we first see that guard, he's at Circle-Breaker's old post where he did most of his spying.
