However, with OE's vote on Merrid making it 3 for him, look who cast the first die: the guy drawing the attention to himself.
Blergh.
Vote Eloth
I'll give in, I'm this > < close to reasoning in circles and I hate that.
I followed this same line of reasoning with Eloth voting first for Merrid. That's why I'm not more inclined to go for him. I guess since we're talking about it, our chances of learning thru observation will be impaired.

Definitely signaling. Korean invasion dudes (Shin's extra 4 players are Korean spies

Here's Eloth's vote on Merrid - it's supposed to look like a joke vote because someone had just mentioned the use of Korean could be signalling, and I guess it could be a joke vote, but then again maybe not, maybe trying to brush off the immediate connection that was made between Merrid and Eloth.
I though this post below might also be interesting:

That would be why then I suppose.
Aside from attempts to get things going and what appear to be joke votes, so far nothing is really striking me as important, maybe reading the thread over in the morning with fresh eyes will reveal something but the two events that are most mentioned so far, the Japanese RPing and the vote on/off spat between GL and Osseric, seem to not be overly suspicious.
Interesting to note though that the first RPd post to be written was by Merrid and was also written in Korean.

Oh nooo! signaling case again...
Osseric please don't get all worked up for nothing again.
Then again, what if it is signalin???
Omtose was the one who originally spotted the Korean connection. But it's Liosan's reponse which piqued my interest - the first couple of lines effectively dismiss Omtose's post, but the final line appears to make an attempt to reverse the attitude....a bit too blatantly perhaps?

In any case, Eloth's was not a serious vote on Merrid.

For the record, I seriously doubt that the mods would cripple someone, in a merc game, with the role equivalent of Tourette's.

The only reason I am even considering it is Shin's own discussion on a certain role he had for a certain player in the sign-up thread.

Not strictly speaking, because I am not using knowledge/ an alt-guess of that player to determine whether or not this might be that player/role.
Imho, anything a mod shares with all (sign-up, OP, in-game posts), is free to use, imho.

Erm, by any chance are you thinking of twelve rather than Shin, because that's the only one I remember discussing a role specifically for another player in the sign-up thread?

* looks * Yeah, you're right. My apologies.
Dammit. Why are people giving info on a game in another game's sign-up?

Shin wouldn't introduce a role that effectively ruined the game for a single player.

well, if he was a Jester...
That was one of the dilemma's. Another would be uneven faction roles in a game that looks very much set for mirrored factions.
I even went so far as to look up if any Ashikaga, Uesugi, Takeda or Fujiwara talked with a lisp or was slightly mad so I could attribute it to historical accuracy.

I like this. It's like saying, let us dig deeper, I wonder what we will find...
I could vote for either Merrid or Eloth right now. I am hesitant to vote properly due to the fact that they could be in my faction. Yet I would prefer to move the game on and see what CF we are working with.
I know we have no idea if either of them are in our faction, so I'd probably rather vote off Eloth in case they both turned out to be in my faction and I lynched the top guy. Knowing my luck anyway.
I would rather see what faction Eloth is in and make decisions from there than fatally damage a faction due to Eloth's incompetence. No one knows for sure what faction everyone is in, yet these two are in the same faction, or that is how it looks.

I'm typing as I catch up, so hopefully everyone can make sense of what I'm saying without having to respond to individual quotes. There will probably be some stuff that's just my opinion on things that have been discussed throughout the thread.
Lynching low posters is definitely not the way to go in a merc game, unless a connection has been made with a higher poster that can then be explored. I'd prefer to lynch someone who is connected to people. 2 of the same factions lynched at the same time offers the opportunity of a nice culture hunt.
I'd be perfectly willing to vote Merrid or Eloth today, based on my above criteria.
4 factions makes sense, so that scene probably reveals all the factions in play unless there is a 5th. I highly doubt there would be a Korean 5th faction in play, that just seems dumb. But if there were, the Korean letters would be an excellent way for that team to announce it, seeing as no one else would know that they exist.
I've noticed an increase in players insulting each other lately, as first pointed out by GL. Opposite of GL, though, I don't see the problem in it. It's a game, insults and shouting are a tactic. No one truly means it, and I doubt there are ever hard feelings.
I had to delete the fener stuff from that to read it. Took a while. Then I scrolled down and saw that Fener already did it.
Okay, I finished catching up.
Eloth is acting strangely. However, I don't buy into most of the stuff that everyone brings up. His posting style is most likely him having some fun, as people tend to do in a -game-.
However, the fact that the only two posts in Korean are his and Merrid's is actually something interesting. I'm very willing to explore this. So I'm making this vote
Vote Merrid
based upon my opinion that the sneaky use of Korean could have been a sneaky attempt at signaling. I didn't catch it until someone brought it up. I think that I would rather vote Merrid in this case. It doesn't seem as if Eloth is trying to get pressure off himself. Could be he got caught, and is now trying to get lynched and hope that we don't go after Merrid tomorrow.
I'll be around for timeout (most likely - no guarantees).
