Now that you have had a chance to read 1-10(Erickson), what books from Malazan Book of the Fallen do you feel are the best if viewed as stand-alone novels? Why? (Poll accepts multiple answers)
Obviously the Crippled God would be the worst choice as it relies far to much on Dust of Dreams.

Midnight Tides, DG, GotM and MoI (in that decreasing order) are the only ones that could possibly work as a stand-alone, but with the ties to previous novels and setups for more I don't think any of them are really all that suitable.

I voted for MoI, since that's where my mind really was blown for real. And imo there's enough closure to the most important parts of it to probably make it work.
But for the purpose of publishing just one, with the other parts never reaching the shelves, I agree with D'rek: MT wouldn't look out of place as a stand-alone novel. But its worth would of course be so much diminished compared to what it is now.

The only novels suitable in my opinion are GotM, DG & MT.
MT is probably the best suited because the events in the book hint at other things to come where as GotM & DG refer to events in the past.
