I should be around throughout the day today. Intermittent due to time contraints in work though. Looking through the OP there seems to be around 4 different factions involved, i'm thinking 4 in 3 factions and 2 in the last. It makes sense. You have the Thieves, the Nepeth, the Merchants and the final faction I believe to be the Khalif of the City of Peace and the Qadi of Cold Justice. Thoughts?

You are missing out the Khanates here. The White Foal Clan was said to be involved in the OP.

PS, can you give us a timer update? We have something like 25 hours left, right?

I mentioned them in my previous post, and I was thinking along the lines of thieves having a similar role to the raiders

Okay. Again, which faction? The Beggar's Guild?

Aren't they the only ones that are stated to have thieves in them?

No idea. There's a Theft action at Dusk. That's about the extent of my knowledge as of now.

I bet theft isn't confined to one Faction, though.

Fair enough.

Possibly they may be part of the White Foal Clan so maybe Faction 3: The Khanates

If not,

then yeah it could be Faction 7: The Beggar's Guild

So possibly 4 factions that consist of

Faction 1 = 3/4 players

Faction 2 = 2/3 Players

Faction 3/7 = 3/4 Players

Faction 6 = 3/4 players

That'd be my guess after reading the OP.

There are so many variables though that I wouldn't be surprised if there was a member of every faction playing the game.

To have 7 factions in a game with 14 players seems a bit too much, if you ask me.

And I believe that Faction 2 has only one player, as the Khalif tells us, that she has only sent one entity, namely the Qadi.

So, the Qadi has two players in it?

Is that what you think? I was thinking it is a possibility. How do you think the factions break down into numbers? 14 players?

I only mentioned 4 factions above, with either faction 7 or faction 3 in play. 4 factions seems like a good number to me but there could be more or there could be less.

Just that raiding and theft are not quite the same. But of course it could be that just one of them is in this game.

No. Just trying to draw out information. I think Qadi is one player as I've previously stated and the most powerful and mysterious.

Faction 2: The Qadi

The Khalif, Qadi of Cold Justice.
Tarkin the Bitter-Hearted, Qadi of Loathing
Silenah, Qadi of Corrupting Pleasure
Bertrand Du Bouillon, Qadi of Obsession

We know that The Khalif is not in the game from what PS has told us and although the OP suggests that only one of the other Qadi in the game i'm not going to rule out the possibility that there may be another.

Seriously Sukul? I'm sorry, but you seem to be unnecessarily complicating this very much so.

You are trying to bait me to gain information. You aren't providing much of your own. I'm trying to work out what the set up is. I know the goal is to find and eliminate the Nepeth. That's simple. How many Nepeth? We won't know that until we work out how many factions are in the game and how many players within each faction. Mafia is never simple, so rather than attack why don't you offer a little more in the way of what you think?

But Telas is right about you complicating things. Why do you doubt what is stated most clearly in the OP?

Anyone else only just realise thanks to PS's spoiler that the Khalif is a woman (or female deity then)? :D

Nice to see a first attempt at a contract go up as well. Now what could that person want with Armour?

To not die.

Khanate, Nepeth, Houses of Agreement (Delat & Meshkir): 3 factions + 1 Qadi.

That's my pretty simple breakdown.

And what, you think you can work that out right now? We've already had at least a half dozen attempts to work out possible factions (including myself) and, until the game progresses and people start falling, I don't think we can go further with the speculation than we already have.

It's pretty certain the Nepeth, White Foal, probs 2 of the Houses of Agreement, and a Qadi are involved. Distribution wise it's frankly anyone's guess at this point. I would assume that the first three are fairly even in terms of numbers. But as I said, things need to start happening before we can work out more. This role distribution posting is starting to look like going in circles.

"I am the Khalif. I value peace and prosperity. Everyone knows that, and even before a single drop of blood was shed, all three parties had asked me to mediate. The Nepeth wanted water, but I had not a drop to grand that isn't already someone elses. The Houses wanted protection, but I have no army. The White Foal wanted aid, but they have always taken more than they need, so why would I help them take even more? Even so, judgment was required, and I am the Khalif.
I made three judgments. The Traders should protect themselves and if they seek my aid, then I will require the price of obedience. I demanded Ishktar Oasis, and they ceded it. I now controlled the source of this war, and it would be mine to bargain in the settlement. The White Foal I promised that if they worked in concert with Madeena al-Salaam, their way of life could continue. The Nepeth committed a crime in invading my lands, and therefore, they deserved punishment, but if they showed sufficient strength, I would grant them that which they wanted. And thus, I dispatched a force that could enforce all three. I sent one entity. I sent the Qadi of Loathing, that immortal creature with magic of unimaginable power at his disposal. One of the three Heartless who serve me." I spit out the pearl for emphasis. It clatters on the ground, makes three little jumps before spinning in place, a finger length away from the Collector of Fables.

You seem to be ignoring the underlined sentences completely, Sukul. They clearly say that the Khalif had sent one entity. Yet you keep talking about that there might be more.Posted Image

I reckon the activity at the Bazaar will be a big clue as to what's going on, and who's doing what, and I've been pretty disappointed by the lack of commentary on this side of the game thus far. For example, this person who put out a contract for Armour - that looks to me like a Nepeth trying to strengthen themselves for a future Battle, no?

Someone earlier bought a Water Clock, so they likely have abilities that they want to use simultaneously - and probably soon, if they've invested in a water clock already.

Combine this kind of information with a close study of who's saying what, and it could go a long way to identifying who stands where in this game.

I didn't want to read what others had said earlier before giving it a go myself to be honest. I wanted to have a go at guessing faction breakdown and whatnot before being influenced by other peoples thoughts. Looking through the thread people have already made guesses at faction breakdown. HP and Galain have both had a go... back in a sec
