How the hell did he learn about the Finnest? I'm reading GotM again, and suddenly he seems to know about it, as he asks Whiskeyjack's squad if Lorn had a small item.

Here's one indication of it:

Paran rubbed his red-shot eyes. "She must have given them something," he insisted wearily, "even if they didn't see it."

Perhaps I'm just forgetting an instance where he learned about the Tyrant, but as far as I can remember he didn't know.

I don't think he knew about the finest but at the time he was thinking Lorn was there to get rid of the Bridge Burners. I doubt he knew what a finest was, but a lure of some kind? For something else (hello Tays demon lord) to find the squad in the confusion? Maybe.

Paran knew what Lorn's plan was in the first place because he was supposed to help her do it, no?

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

This.

Actually no. Paran knew about the plan to find and kill Sorry. He did NOT know about the plan to kill the Bridge Burners . It's why he wanted to kill Lorn during the later parts of the book. When Tattersail told him that was the plan he felt really betrayed as the command was meant to be his 'reward' in a way for following the trail of Sorry for three years as the Adjutant's agent.

I'm pretty sure he didn't even know about the plan to release the tyrant. As he said to Tattersail in the tent before she went and got herself blown up, all he knew was the plan to get rid of the god possessing Sorry.

From how I read it, it seems that he knew about releasing the tyrant. But probably in his ignorance he thought that the Bridgeburners would be spared.

I don't have the quote at hand but when Whiskeyjack is talking with Dudjek about Lorn reaching the Tyrant, Paran nods to himself and thinks "it's happening after all" or something like that. I can quote more at home.

So, his pants while he was in Tattersail's room, but before he'd disrobed?

But of course~!!

Which means that he and Tattersail were having a conversation in his pants. Sounds delightful!
