what does the collective think of Bd2?
granted, i'm quite buzzed right now, so I won't be making the actual move, but I feel it's a decent development move, unless we have some reservations about a light pieces exchange at this point.

Yeah, I'm with UoW on this one.
Bd2 gives us an even shore against his queen. The resulting piece exchange involves our pawn
taking his bishop for our knight. Worst scenario for him, we lose that pawn for his queen.
We know bishops are valuable in an open field right now Buuut....
QB3 is a far more aggressive move. splits him open like a book. and paints a target on several
key pieces.

while I see the merits of Qb3, I actually would consider it a more passive move. aside from preventing black from castling, control of the diagonal doesn't really bear any immediate advantages. moreover, we lose the threat of a3-b4, and confine ourselves to that annoying pin.
as for the centre, the only logical followup to qb3 that I see would be d5, but that would then close up the position, and leave our queen out of the action.
I think i'll stick with Bd2
B c1-d2

Crap, I did miss it. I can't hold the board position in my head -- need more updates!
