Yeah, I don't think we stand much chance here. But anyway, let's go ahead and play Rd7.

And now, I unveil what is probably the most questionable move of the entire game so far! Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: Knight to D4!

Cute gambit. e5xd4 invites e4-e5+, leading to Ka8-b8.

From there on, the most likely scenario is Rf7xd7, Qb5xd7.
Your move then is either Ra1-c1 to limit the movement of the King, followed by Qb3, or Qb3+ immediately.

We can't move our rook at d7 because it opens up Qa7-mate, nor can we move Qe2. Qb7 seems about the only viable option to keep the status quo, and if we do that, he'll force the rook exchange anyway.

So, any offers? Or do you guys want to resign? And if so, who's up for taking on the collective next?

I think tipping the king over would be wise. I'd be up for taking on the collective, but I'm busy in all aspects of life and have responsibilities in mafia as well for the foreseeable future, so would prefer to do it in the game after the next (if that moment ever comes).

IIRC, Grief said he'd like to take on the collective, so we have someone lined up for the next game at least. If one more person says resign, that will be the end of this game.

P.S. CF, can you update the first post with the resign rule?

resign is my vote.

What are we updating post 1 to say exactly?

3 votes for resignation = resignation?

Yeah, 3 consecutive votes for resignation by 3 different participating members of the collective, each of which must have played at least 1 move in the game being resigned. Which means we need one more for this game.

I'll be your third resignation vote. My general principles when playing OTB chess are to keep playing until I see no way out, but this is not OTB chess. Fighting on in this sort of position is going to be a morale-sapping affair since the on-thread discussion limits our ability to find a cheapo and get back into the game. And since I am to blame for the blunder that caused us to fall behind, it's probably best that I end this game sooner rather than later so we can wipe the slate clean.

So if I understand correctly, grief is up next?

@Grief,

are you comfortable updating the board? It's easiest if you do it and it's not very hard to learn how.
