Otoh, if they chose to do realistic graphics, it wouldn't really be so uniquely Borderlands anymore. It'd look like Rage 2 done in Unreal engine.

Agree - part of what makes Borderland is the artistic aesthetic, part of it is the let's loot a shit ton of guns aspect of the game. It's basically FPS meets Diablo but with crazy people and robots instead of angels and demons. I don't see how anyone could go much further in either of those directions without losing what makes Borderlands Borderlands.

Also, if released this autumn, it would coincide with the 10 year anniversary of the release of the original Borderlands. So that could be a target they are shooting for.

Awesome possum and cool beans! Although I sort of wouldn't mind if it was pushed out further because I think I might be getting into Rage 2 big time this May and I don't want to burn out on post-apocalyptic shooting fun times before Borderlands 3 drops. I will have to play it by ear, I guess. #1stWorldProblems

I gotta say, I'm not liking the box cover art all that much (if this is indeed what it will look like). Although it has a Bandit on the cover like 1, 2 and the Pre-Sequel, it's a departure in that the bandit isn't making the "shoot self in head" gesture/motion. I wonder if that means it's a clue to some changing 'politics' in the game? (i.e. the bandits are now friendly and allies?)

I’d say it’s because all the bandits are involved in the cult. I doubt they’re allies.
