I revel in these rules and craziness. But maybe that's just me.

I love gobs of rules and craxyness when I can devote time to postulating what they are and seeing if I can figure out how everything works. Right now....

Well I'm out for the night. I think we have something like 15 hours left, so I'll check back in in the morning.

I remebered someone saying this, so I had to search for it. This post by Tennes was made in day 7.

Well, this is a real pickle. Unfortunately, at this point, A Karosis or HP lynch would give us the most to go on. I mean, if Karosis CF's Barbarian we can be pretty sure that HP is 3 kingdoms. If Karosis comes back 3 Kingdoms, it's likely that HP is a barbarian or champion. Either way, we have ourselves a barbarian in our sights.

Other people worth looking at in my opinion:

Telas- He has faded from the game ever since Khell called him out as possible usurper. I am surprised no one has jumped on this. BUT, usurper has had 3 nights to recruit. if he has 3 recruits and himself... there might be a reason that this has been brushed under the rug. That combined with his sickness/absence/work/whatever basically a stepping back from the fray, i believe he is a good candidate for Usurper.

Galain: Has also vanished after early pressure and has become a non entity.

Honestly.. I would prefer a Telas vote. If push came to shove and we needed a lynch, the Karosis/HP would be my next choice. But for now:

vote Telas

we seem to be stuck in a spiral that involves Karosis and HP. It's a long day and I don't think we should fixate.

Underlining mine.

The PS post that suggests the cult has started recruiting and made their first succesful recruit was made at the dawn after night two.

The Yan ruler, irate at being roused in the middle of the night, eyed the dishevelled and poorly dressed man accompanying his general disapprovingly. "And what, exactly, is this dirty peasant supposed to do for us, general?" "My lord, this is Guan Lu, the famed diviner of heaven's secrets and master of the stars. He sees events and people far away. He's already described for me the Lu emperor's castle defenses at Han Zhong!" Suspicious but intrigued, Huang Zhong asked Guan Lu to describe portentious events occuring in the world.

The mystic, who spoke only in riddles as mystics are wont to do, said to Zhong "A winged shadow descends upon a deserted village. Is it surprised? In the ancient capital, a man swallows and chokes on a phoenix. He dies and is born anew, but perhaps there are some who can tell the difference. The oxen charge against the wall again and again but they cannot find the door handle."

Huang Zhong, unimpressed, dismissed his general and returned to bed.

Night 2 is ended. No one died.

Even if we take the night two dawn scene as the Usurper being given the recruit power, rather than the first successful recruitt, Tennes is off on how many recruits they could have. To me, this suggests he as some inside information on how successful our not so friendly neighbourhood cult has been at recruiting or he knows when he himself was recruited and is trying to underplay the threat they are.

... OK, I just went back word-searching over the past ten pages or so, and all I can say is ... WTF?

What the fuck happened to Sorritt? How the hell did I miss a player disappearing completely? Am I the only one?

Oh, fuck, ignore me.

I just found the P-S post. No fucking idea why it didn't show up in a browser word-search of the past ten pages. Blame Firefox.

All right, I'm headed to bed.

FWIW - which is probably nothing - a complete re-read of Okaros and Barghast turns up nothing conclusive that either might be Warlord faction. Okaros just seems particularly ... neutral.

Well that collection of posts is interesting. Things we could note would include Galain's tendency to focus on Emperors and the Usurper; he rarely mentions the barbarians, and when he does it was after being accused. Galain also seems to get defensive when questioned, or, if not defensive, than he provokes conflict. This could be because he has a powerful role, but I think if we take the first couple lynches of the game into account, we can deduce that people in general will get defensive even when they aren't power players. So I can't pin his specific role, but I think we may have a possible barbarian. I'd like to hear someone else's thoughts on the matter.

Galain did mention Silanah's tendency to side with Emur. I mentioned my similar suspicion earlier, but it seemed like I had misunderstood an exchange between the two rather than noticing anything concrete. But it seems just as likely that Silanah is just agreeing with some of Emur's ideas (most of the speculation mid game onwards has been done by Emurlahn). We'll need more to connect the two, I think.

Don't sell others short. Plenty of people have been speculating lately. Emur's ideas are often very abstract, and others make them more concrete.

I'll keep this in mind. I would even say that Barghast has been posting much more frequently of late (maybe even more so than Emur), and much of it seems to have substance. Ever since he was accused of being a potential barbarian, I believe.

I've always thought Barghast was a relatively good content poster, but yeah he has picked up.

Way too wild, for my tastes. He's due here at some point soon, isnt he? I'm losing track of people's posting times.

Here's the thing. With everyone being as devoted to their faction and their own survival, everyone is jumpy and afraid of being led into lynching their own, especially early game. Now that the lines in the sand are somewhat visible, this has calmed down, but still.... there is a scramble for information.

Therefore, if you are willing to do the legwork (and that willingness is amplified by not having a power role) and accept that you can be occassionally wrong, you have some leeway to be 'wild'. Naturally, if people turn up the way you predicted they would, people get nervous and wonder if your psychic, have special abilities or perhaps that you are a power role after all, instead of assuming you got lucky, dare to not hoard your info for yourself or do have the occassional P-S induced (notices, illuminations, et cetera)/ night action-inspired revelation.

Now personally, when I view the thread, I notice several things.
1) people that have had some pressure, manage to escape it the next day. It's becoming a bit of a pattern, except for Karosis.

2) people who are being lynched have their last minute confessions ignored or are hammered before they can reveal it
subclause A: that means either a good deflection mechanism with the factions under accusation;
subclause B: or we are so afraid of being bull-shitted by a dead guy that we prefer looking elsewhere;
subclause C: we actually do not read back but prefer to look elsewhere, on mostly shaky grounds.

The question here is: what's so bad about bull-shit? Wrong information becomes information as well, if only to exclude people from certain roles. If you have info you know and your team doesn't (or is likely to not have it) why not throw it out? Worst case scenario, your team will carefully consider it upon your CF, best case, you can drag people down with you or have other people direct night actions that way.

3) it is a fad to hunt barbarians and therefore whenever you want someone lynched, labelling them barbarian is the hands-down the best way as we are getting nervous of it. The reasons for that:
subclause A: barbarians are a voting minority so you can theoretically get all empire people on board and therefore a lynch;
subclause B: barbarian underlings are killers. Killers always make good scapegoats;
subclause C: due to their geographical location, it is really hard to catch them with a night action;
subclause D: since the Usurper is one man and there are at the least 4 barbarians (seeing how there are 2 roles and 2 factions), it is mathematically easier to hit a barbarian than that one evil overlord, also, to paint someone the Usurper means you'll need a good case.
subclause E: not catching a group (or two) hat has some numbers with a lucky potshot, is going to invite speculation on massively overblown special abilities, which in turn increases the fear. Perhaps it is more down to luck and/or good play by the barbs than we're willing to credit... I mean, out of 6 power-roles from the kingdoms (Emp + PM), we so far nailed only 1.

Seems I'm all by my ronery self. Out of the people out there with votes on them, I am most curious about Galain. Let's do some gung ho voting.

Vote Galain.
